I was at the first gold jersey game way back in 2002 against the Vikings.
I had never heard so much cursing in the ramps after a game in my life, and that's saying something.

Saints can wear any combo they want, but this is a team that could reasonably go 0-17.

Was that the only gold jersey game or was there another somewhat more recent? I legit can't remember. I remember the Saints were gonna clinch a playoff spot if they won that game, and also could've clinched a spot if they won either of the two final games after...including a game against the league-worst Bengals...and then they didn't go to the playoffs. Good times.

They know the only way of selling any NFL merch featuring this alternate uniform branding is Week #1.
They will hope some naive fans pull the trigger online early in the game.

Only to be followed up by a loss to a hapless Bengals team the week after and then close out with a terrible 10-6 loss to Carolina in the Dome. A win against any of those three teams meant a playoff birth and in true Saints fashion, it was choked away.
I was at that Carolina loss and I remember seeing a sizable chunk of ceiling grid that had been pulled down in frustration. Not a fun time.

End of the year, playoffs 1 win away, and a 10 loss Vikings team scores a TD with seconds left. Instead of kicking the XP and going to OT they go for 2 and the win.
Culpepper fumbles the snap in the shotgun, scoops it up, and runs straight ahead into the end zone untouched.
We’d lose the next 2 games and miss the playoffs.

I’m not a fan of it either…..never liked the gold jerseys. My favorites are the throwbacks and the color rush
