Game day experience at Clemson

Naturally, we compare other game day experiences to ours when attending away games:
Clemson- beautiful campus and area. Expansive tailgating scene but quiet. Go to Home Depot and buy a garbage can or two, that would give you one or two garbage cans on campus and help with the litter.
Nice stadium and cool traditions, including running down the hill and how Memorial Stadium is tied to those who served. Again quiet and we think Williams Brice was much louder last year. Heard “welcome to Clemson” at least 50 times throughout the day. Almost too nice, like what were they up too?
Concessions and beer sales were a disaster. Didn’t have scanners set up to sell for much of the 1st quarter. Long lines and not any better than what we complain about at home.
Lamar Brown sat in our section. That boy is big. Stood next to Will Campbell at the Esso Club. That boy is big.
Traffic leaving was a nightmare. Took us an hour to get to 123 from our parking spot. To those who constantly justify our fans leaving early because LSU’s campus is “next to a big river”. Just stop. We’ve been to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Neyland, Penn State, UGA, UF, USCe, etc. and now Clemson. NONE of their traffic is any better than LSU.
We have a defense! Geaux Tigers!

Listening to some of their podcasts today, they are saying that is the loudest the stadium has ever been
They are bragging about the atmosphere.
They are in for a huge shock next year

Nope. This part is stupid and their cannon on a dolly is a joke.

quote:that will depend totally on the time of day, the weather, teams ranking, how LSU and Climpson finish the year, etc. if it’s too hot, too wet, too early and/or the teams are not highly ranked the atmosphere won’t be that great. For LSU fans to show up be loud and rowdy and stay for most of the game everything has to be perfect.

One of the best game days I have experienced was against Florida a couple of years ago that was an 11 am game, that was hot and we were coming off a loss. Davis-Price had a great day and we beat them. The crowd was really good that dsy
It’s Clemson, the crowd will be there

Thanks for a legitimate review. A lot of people are so caught up in their fandom that they just shite on whatever opposing stadium we played at that week and don't offer any honest insight.

Is it tradition for fans to walk/hang out on the field afterwards? They made it seem that way.

If we would have lost you would be trashing the place

Interesting. The two I listened to, and the on3 article I read, said it was loud at the beginning of the game. But when Clemson went 3 and out to start, the noise got quiet.
The Miami overtime game years ago - overtime - is generally thought to be their earthquake game. The Louisville game that came down to the end - is probably next. One of the Georgia games is next.
I know many who want to the game. Everyone said it was not loud S they expected. But that had more to do with the game flow.

Clemson is a cult that’s why they were being fake nice to you. They showed their true colors when they threw trash on the field when a call didn’t go their way but they love to accuse everyone else of doing that.

campus and area was awesome. really scenic part of the country. Tailgating was okay, very expensive if you're on campus. Thought the entrance was overrated (the bus thing is incredibly dumb) but the stadium is really, really nice.
Apparently it was their first game with beer allowed inside the stadium which is why it may have taken forever, but yea it was awful. Fans were really nice to us, we were the only LSU fans in our area and they were pretty gracious.
Traffic was ridiculous. Ended up hitting their downtown to pass the time bc nobody could get out until after 1230 or 1 am

Campus and the lakes were absolutely beautiful. We were impressed how clean campus was walking to our car after the game. Credit to their fan base. Tailgating and stadium were surprisingly quiet, even at kickoff.
It was clear they are not used to big games. Crowds were overwhelming for campus and stadium. Our tickets weren’t scanned and we walk right through metal detectors. Concessions were abysmal and the stadium overall too small for that crowd. We were very underwhelmed by our game day experience.

quote:Yep, never a problem for me. I'm the guy with the speaker and a cooler at any large event, hanging out in the parking lot until the rat has moved through the snake. Much less stressful.
Traffic was ridiculous.

I don’t think so.
2015 - LSU played Florida at night, coming off a win.
2016 a LSU played Florida at home in a game rescheduled due to the Hurricane in Gainesville that knocked over a chair. LSU lost at the goaline.
2017 - road game
2018 - road game.
The only game I can think of that you may be thinking about is 2021. The game was at 11:00, but it wasn’t hot at all. In fact, it was a beautiful, pleasant October day. The crowd wasn’t particularly great either because LSU was coming off a blowout loss to Kentucky. I recall driving to the game and traffic was relatively light. TDP had a record setting day and LSU won. But that was as “fair” a weather day as you could get and the crowd certainly wasn’t capacity
It’s true, it takes kind of a perfect setting (right time, right opponent, right weather conditions, etc) to get a peak LSU crowd these days. That’s why LSU really only had one last year…the Ole Miss game
