He’s a good coach IMO. I think he did a good job at Memphis and rebuilt FSU. Last year was obviously a huge letdown, but I think he’s a solid coach overall. Not sure if he will ever win a National Championship, but I could see him making FSU a perennial playoff team.

Hard to forget 2-10.

We'll see how the rest of the season goes first. Bama could just be a 7-5 team he beat at home, so not all that much.

Their schedule is really easy so no excuse to not win 8-9 games this year though.

Not Ed O level dependent on the players and assistants but last year completely getting away was a bad sign. FSU should never go 2-10.

He obviously knows how to sit down after a bad year and figure it out. Not crowning them anything this year but what a huge comeback after going 2-10.

Fuente had a .520 winning percentage at Memphis (granted, he had a rebuild).

Norvell had a .717 winning percentage at Memphis. His successor is currently .628.

He inherited a dumpster fire at FSU and appears to have them pointed toward relevance again.

Gus and Tony White are the best coordinator combo in the country so he at least realized he needed to hire top people

They are clearly improved so he likely did much better portal shopping this offseason. I'm just always going to have concerns about the foundation if it can spiral like that on you.

My thoughts are he made a mistake going with DJU as his portal QB last year.

Good-to-great coach. In the NIL era, coaches are going to have to be viewed differently. 13-1 to 2-10 to something like 10-3 is not going to be shocking in the future

Lives and dies by the portal. 34-27 (20-20 in ACC play).

He took over Memphis at 35 and FSU at age 38. I had no idea he was that young. He’s only 43

You’d rather he have the answers to start, but pulling oneself out of hell (what he inherited and now 2-10) is for people who are genuinely good at what they do

He was victim of the same thing Kelly was. Roster was depleted, and he Pulled a great portal class in Y1, but the guys left simultaneously with the good leftover players, leaving nothing.

Difference is Kelly walked into what Orgeron left.

Norvell was responsible for what he had last year.

You don’t HAVE to portal your entire team every year. Norvell has kind of done it on purpose.
