1. Defense. You’ve got a lot of guys who are looking to prove themselves this year. Perkins, Pyburn (Florida didn’t think he could rush), Payton, Gooden, and just about every DB.
2. A little added piss & vinegar. You don’t think Kelly is rallying around the Haulcy bullshite?
3. Year 2 QB. We know the story there. And we know the talent that Nuss has.
4. Speed. We didn’t have burners at receiver last year. You now have two with Brown and Hilton. Good luck to a safety in cover 1 making the choice on who to help if they’re on opposite sides.

I know I shouldn’t set myself up for heartbreak again, but I think you’ve got a pissed off locker room with more to prove than just about everybody in the country.

No I dont think so, I think its the board projecting onto the players.

If we lose we still have a good chance to have a great year.

Clemson does too.

Ok, counter argument. You don’t think Pyburn takes it personal that Florida didn’t think he can play third down?

You don’t think this secondary has heard even a little bit on how they’ve been terrible for 3 years and it won’t improve this year?

Yeah, the boards pissed. But in reality, you’ve got a lot of guys with something to prove.

I hear you, but we have BK. I truly expect Sunday we will see him on a press conference saying the same shite he always says. “It’s on me” “I have to be better” blah blah blah.

Meanwhile Clemson and the media will glorify Clemson and the “real Death Valley” and that’ll be that.

Because we have Special teams advantages and a healthy Caden Durham! Durham will have 100+ total yards and 2 touchdowns!

"Piss and vinegar" carries you for about 5 minutes. Effort and, more importantly, EXECUTION, wins the game. LSU's effort and desire to win has been there in the last 3 season opening games. It was the execution in critical spots that wasn't.

The minimum for a "great year" is a CFP appearance. The pieces are all in place for a CFP appearance and LSU spent the money to go out and get them. Excuses that may have been reasonable in prior seasons aren't this year.

Yes, LSU's season is not "over" with a loss. But the road to a great season becomes much tougher. Tougher because there is no guarantee a 3 loss SEC team gets into the CFP. History (albeit just one year of it) suggest they won't. That means with a loss LSU has little margin for error (1 loss) to navigate through the SEC schedule to be assured of a CFP spot. It sure would be a hell of a lot more comforting to know that you could have two losses in conf. play and still reach the CFP

IMO, the biggest thing I will be looking for is LSU's interior DL. We THINK this group has the most talent/depth BK has had. If the interior DL is causing havoc it greatly limits what the offense can do.

OL - run the ball efficiently and keep Nuss comfy making solid decisions -plain and simple.

The talent of this team is better than last year and that team could have beaten this Clemson team too.

If the offense can run reasonably smoothly, the improved talent across the board should handle the rest.

It all comes down to the O Line imo

I'll add:
-Year 2 for Baker
-Year 2 for Sloan
-Year 2 for Dom, Breaux and Reliford
-Depth and talent at DT the we didn't have last season including having Guillory back
-Perk at star

A big reason is because I think Cade Klubnik is overrated. I think we have the edge at QB, the most important position on the field. Limit turnovers and we win. Our defense is about to keep us in the game no matter what.

Turnovers and Sloan having a good game are the keys for me. I think the defense will be much improved. Clemson is talented enough to score some points on us, but we can outscore them. We will outscore them if we limit turnovers and Sloan has a good game.

The hype around Clemson is that they're returning all of these great players on both sides of the ball. Fine. They're a team full of padded stats. They play in the weak arse ACC where every game in their conference is like us playing McNeese.

Got their arse kicked by GA. Lost to Louisville at home and got beat by a team we beat in SC.. Citadel put up almost 300 on the ground against them.

We will control the LoS. I'm going Tigers alt spread -5.

It’s so hard in these conferences to sell if anyone is any good.

Clemson won 10 games last year against opponents with a combined 54-70 record.

they beat 2 teams all year that finished with a winning record.

11-3 SMU and 7-6 Pitts

they didn’t play Miami. They didn’t play Syracuse.

And then the lost badly to

I bet our o-line is tired of hearing how much they suck too.

Win at the LOS, no stupid decisions from the staff and we should be fine.
