His comment about Foskey being cut was basically.

"yea that was a Coach Moore and Mickey Loomis decisions. You'll have to ask them. I though he did a heck of a job and had a bright future in the league."

Sorry no link I heard it on a feed. Maybe it's on a you tube short.

Was Foskey one of "His Guys"

Just seems like a strange comment. I don't remember any other player he made a point of saying it wasn't his decision to cut.

Every defensive player is his guy

He is the DC, not the HC or GM, so he can "go to bat for his guys".

Interesting his use of "thought he had a future in the league" lol

But why just him?

Why not say, "yea these are the tough decisions that have to be made at this time of year. I wish him luck and think he's going to have a bright future."

He made a point of saying the decisions wasn't his. About Foskey only.

I just think it's strange and has nothing to to with him just being nice.

Could be that Staley really did want to keep him, and Mickey said I'm done paying this turd, which IMO all Saints fans could get behind but it raises another question of why is Mickey (In this hypothetical) over ruling a coach on the players he wants to keep in his system? Especially one that costs penny's comparatively speaking.

I typed it wrong. what he was saying was he thinks Foskey will have a future in the league. Whether or not that was fluff to say something nice is really irrelevant.

Maybe because he was specifically asked about Foskey and didn't want to bury a young man that was a 2nd round pick and just got his dreams crushed

Who cares

He is young and has pedigree and didn't get a single waiver claim. That tells you all you need to know about him.

He was probably only asked about Foskey in that moment. Most people aren't going to care or ask about any of the other cuts. Foskey gets interest because of his draft position.

Literally our two "biggest" cuts were him and Haener, because both were drafted and have been on the team a few years. Then you have a couple of udfas or a late pick like Diggs who showed promise, so a guy like Welch maybe.

Nobody is giving a shite about 30 or so of the 37 cut.

Smart to pass the buck to Loomis in case Fosky goes to the eagles and becomes an all pro…..

Crazy that he’s Notre dames all time sack leader. Justin Tuck played there.

But I could tell in the highlights he had zero explosion or get up. Hope our scouting dept throw out this RAS score bs and rely on film. It cost us Brian branch.

Foskey getting cut from the Saints guarantees he's the next Zach Baun and Hendrickson. I'd think a defensive coordinator knows more about a player's ability than the Saint's dumbass GM

He had to benefit from the scheme, or the other players.
What else would explain the dropoff or lack of development

I didn’t hear the comment but is a really dumb comment.

I can guess why he said it (attempt to be kind and not pile on) but Staley should know better. That sound bite makes it seem like he disagreed with the decision.

When I read the original comment on this thread, I interpreted his comments as salty toward Loomis.

I just watched the video of him saying it, he said that’s a better question for the GM and HC. I took it as him simply saying they made ALL the cuts, not him. I didn’t take it as him saying he would have kept Foskey. Now maybe he would, but I got a totally different vibe from written comments here and watching the actual video.

It was commendable of him to speak that way about him. Regardless of what many of YOU think about him he sweat and bled with those guys each day. A little respect can go a long way in this world.

I think Foskey not only didn't get claimed, but I dont think anyone signed him to their practice squad
