I had no idea African warriors were present at the Battle of Hastings in 1066...

Yet the BBC is telling me that this is the way it was.

Here is a screen grab from their miniseries which chronicles William of Normandy's conquest of England.

That's Lord D'Xarvius of Wuzkangzland, the first Englishman to ever suffer a severe sunburn.

Clearly a slave conscript brought to England or France by a wealthy landowner.

Except that would've be historically correct......just very, very rare. But Chinese immigrants did exist within US borders at the time and did fight in the Civil War.

I'm not sure if there's any evidence of Africans in Britain in 1066, it's more like the realm of fanfic.

Another unknown, interesting fact is that there were actually 3 African ladies who worked as computists in a back room of a castle. They used math principles to come up with the battle plan and angles of attack. Somebody should make a movie about this.

I think it’s plausible… didnt the Romans fight wars in Africa? I believe one could have made it to England by 1066

The Tuaregs have been running a slave trade between subsaharan Africa and the Mediterranean coast for millennia
