Why is the toilet paper industry having a hard time?

I have a card game and about half the guys there are either in the timber industry or have money tied up in the timber industry.
They're pretty much in panic mode right now. Two different toilet paper plants in south Georgia are closing. The one guy said "property owners lost 60 cents overnight," whatever that means exactly. He was talking about people with timber on their land.
Is it the Japanese toilets. I saw a stat where 20 percent of new upscale residential construction has Japanese toilets. One of the manufacturers is about to open a big arse factory by the Atlanta airport.

everyone put a bidet lid on their seat 5 years ago and never looked back. Now its only being used to dry asses instead of cleaning them.

People can’t afford to wipe their arse anymore, so they’re skipping it and don’t need paper.

my wife is doing her part to keep the industry alive. every time I turn around there's another bale or two of Charmin showing up after a visit to Costco.

It's containerboard mills. There's an oversupply.
International paper has been restructuring. They closed the two in georgia, but also closed one in Louisiana earlier this year. They have also closed several other pulp mills etc over the last couple of years.

We have bides on almost every toilet, and I’m still amazed with how much toilet paper the women in my house can use

They are using dollar bills instead. They are tired of big toilet paper charging them out the arse for a roll… LOL
