There will be 24 more cuts. This is only the beginning.

We cut 14 and still have another 24. Not including if we dip under 53 to pickup anyone else that gets released.

They have until Tuesday

They are waiving guys first. They will do the releases tomorrow.

The difference between waiving and releasing has to do with how many years they have vested. If it's 4 (or maybe 3?) or fewer they are waived, while more they are cut. That's why Akers was a cut while the rest were waived today.

Today on Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller's show, Pat was saying when teams do the waivers first and the releases second, sometimes they will slide in a waiver in the middle of the releases, hoping he escapes notice because they really want to bring the guy back onto the practice squad and don't want teams to find him on the wire.

Anyone that believes that actually works doesn't actually work in the real nfl. There is no sneaking someone past the other teams. These teams have everyone else on the other rosters they are interested in ear marked and watch the waiver with eagle eyes.
Kirwin isn't bad, but on this he is very wrong.
Plus, the majority of the 24 we are getting rid of tomorrow will also be waived because they are not vested vets yet.
Not even sure where he is getting there is a "waiver day" and a "release day". That has never ever been a thing, especially since most of the players all teams are getting rid of don't meet the vested vet qualifications for release over waiver.
I know there are myths about some of these things, but they just aren't true.

Should've been the first person cut.

Sneaking is done by injuries and pup list. And hoping lol
I heard them talk about the difference in 4 year vets and others concerning the terminology.

I like Ridgeway as a backup. Glad he can come back this season

Why would they cut Welch ? I assume practice squad but he actually made plays.
