To be fair, it should be mandatory to house illegals in your home if you support or vote for sanctuary laws.

Meanwhile, in America, we claim our spare rooms are "home offices" and get tax breaks.

Eat shite, Australia

Normal response from government; try to solve a problem with more regulation instead of letting free markets work. The stated goal was "freeing up supply". I suspect if you look at the residential market in Australia, there are government policies that are causing the shortage of multi-bedroom homes to begin with. But if there's a shortage of multi-bedroom homes for any reason, then the price should rise for those properties. When that happens, either builders will build more, or more existing properties will go on the market. What they're proposing is using government power to force people to sell at below market prices.

The Aussies are , absent the communist countries, the most authoritarian country in the world. During COVID, they actually had "real camps" for people violating the country's rules. And the government, like in this instance, continues its control over the population.

The US taxed indoor staircases, I was told. That's why so many antebellum homes have outdoor staircases.

Yeah, guns are a good thing.

This bedroom has an oven in it. This bedroom’s got a lot of people sitting around watching TV. This bedroom’s over in that guy’s house.

Germany has always taxed by the room. It's why they don't have walk-in closets and use shrunks for storage.

We have a 5-bedroom house just for two here, we each have our own office plus a room for hobbies and one for temporary storage.

They taxed doors, which is why many buildings of the American colonial era have half doors beside a full door instead of double doors.

Love the natural beauty of the country and the rural folks, but the cities and local, state, and federal governments can go forth and consume a satchel of richards.

Back in March was my first visit there in twenty years. I knew things had become worse there, especially post-China flu, but damn it was way worse than I remembered. Talk about renew your appreciation for the U S of A.
