Is it just me or is this one of the most annoying things to hear amateur golfers say

Before a round “I hit it good on the range I’m gonna put up a big number now” I’ve never understood this thought process. What are yalls thoughts on this

You mean that they recognize that they are infact capable of hitting a decent shot with zero pressure to do so … Then get out on the course and what they did on the range doesn’t translate because they don’t understand the 6 inches of grey between there ears keeps them from playing well.. Thus resulting in carding some high numbers.. And they are honest about it. Is that what you’re referring too??

For instance I have a buddy who is a decent golfer and has broke par several times. We’re warming up on the range and he makes the comment “I’m hitting it too good right now I’m gonna play like crap” or “I’m not hitting it good, I’m about to go shoot 74” complete reverse psychology but not in a way to try to get in my head. He just really believes one way or the other how he hits it on the range will impact the way his round will go and he’s not the first person I’ve heard make that comment. I hear it quite often actually

Four hours is a long time to hold a conversation with people. Golfers tend to regurgitate the same shite to pass the time.

I think “range comments” are golf’s gallows humor.
A good range session does not guarantee good results. At some level golf always has a randomness to it.
That’s why it’s so addictive.

Range to course relationship is the running joke it’s like saying “one” if the ball is accidentally tapped off the tee. Old joke but it’s not going to go away.
I don’t like it when people get to tee and tell
Me how they’re not that good. It’s a hard game and everyone is always wanting to be better. Let’s just go play our game, no need to make concessions for our skill levels.

I hate when people tell me I should be practicing short game when it's obviously the driver that is controlling my scores.

Been playing in this LA golf tour and everyone on it has been super cool. But there's one guy that literally just talks about his previous wins on the tour and his best rounds. I don't know if he's doing it as some brag or thinking it's maybe getting in my head but I'm really just rolling my eyes whenever he does it. Like dude, I've played with you numerous times, I can literally see your skill level. We're in the same flight, no need to pretend your some superior golfer.
