The first Coaches Committee meeting is scheduled for September 8 and the First Pitch Banquet is to be held on January 15. Attending one or both is a way for fans to help support the 8 time national champions for the 2026 season and beyond. I am anxious to find out when the first fall scrimmage is scheduled so that I can start to check out this year's newcomers. Now, back to football talk.

Thanks Scuba, great info as always!

Did you ever go back and reshare any interesting fall notes you had last year? Would be curious to see how your fall thoughts played out!

I try to refrain from opining about my expectations based on fall observations.
This is due to my reluctance to hype or degrade individual players, mostly. i try to stay positive concerning the team, overall. There is more than enough negativism on this site, IMO.
We all know that coach Johnson recruits ample talent to compete for championships every year and puts the pieces together well enough to win.

Yeah I know but did you have any feelings about some players last fall one way or the other than ended up being true?

Yes, I met Casan Evans and Cade Arrambide at a coaches committee meeting last year and talking to them I thought they both would be primary contributors to this years team.
Watching fall scrimmages I felt that Daniel Dickinson would be a starter on the infield. I told his Mom that I thought he would be at 3rd base.
I felt really comfortable with Jared Jones' defensive improvement at 1st base.
I realized how good Derick Curiel was and knew that he would start in the outfield.
I thought that we had players that could start for other SEC teams who would not get much playing time on this team.
I was impressed with the number of power pitchers who were recruited last year and I had difficulty determining what their roles would be.
These kind of things are why I enjoy going to the scrimmages so much. I like trying to guess which players the coaches will utilize in which ways. It's also fun to get to know some of the players and their families.

While I don't live close enough to attend as many games/events as you, over the years my favorite thing about my seats is getting to know the players families. Over the last 30 years it's been one of my favorite things about going to tigers baseball games.

I always appreciate all of your reports thanks as always.

Free entry. No concessions but you can bring in any drinks and food you want. Just clean up your mess. In many ways, I enjoy the scrimmages as much as the games. Very few people there. I bring the kids and their friends. They run wild all over the place and I sit back and drink cheap beer and watch stress free baseball. It really is great.

I like to get to scrimmages at least 1 hour before the posted start time to watch batting practice and other drills. This also gives me time to visit with friends pregame.

At many of the Fall scrimmages former players show up & it's a good feeling to see that they are still tied to LSU baseball.

Also (sorry if already discussed) LSU is playing in a baseball tournament in Jacksonville, FL the second weekend of the year with Indiana, Notre Dame, and Central Florida.
