Really enjoyed listening to him.
"Today, we share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Dr. James C. Dobson. He went home to be with the Lord peacefully, following a brief illness.
Dr. Dobson’s unwavering faith and tireless devotion to the family shaped generations."

Dobson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, to traveling evangelist parents and was deeply influenced by his religious upbringing. He earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern California in 1967. He served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at USC for 14 years and was on the staff of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for 17 years.

Wasn't he in that pickup game when Maravich died?

Someone with his exact background would never even be allowed to sniff medical school in this area of the country. They'd probably get flagged by the government as a potential danger.

Most people won’t sniff medical school no matter how hard they try
30 years ago, a 3.6-3.7 science GPA and 510 MCAT score was enough to get you into most public university medical schools. Now almost none of them will even look at your application unless you have research experience, volunteer hours, job experience in healthcare, and an MCAT score of 515-517. Today’s pool of medical students would blow any of the ones from decades back out of the water.

I grew up at peak FOTF in the Evangelical South.
James Dobson might as well have been President in my house. Plenty of FOTF stuff I didn't like at the time and don't love now, but it was a cultural force that probably slowed the tide. He has some very good, albeit dated, material on raising children, boys especially.
Race well run, Dr. Dobson

Yes
Dr. Dobson was a warrior for Jesus, truth, and light. Good man.

I believe it was an event he organized at a church.

I bet he was huge fan of the "War on Poverty"

I listened to him nearly every day. :-(

That same banner waves a lot of different ways for a lot of different people.
And not just his one way.

Dobson was a good man. A lone voice for many years pushing back against the attacks on traditional family values. He will be greatly missed.

True story: I grew up in a very strict Christian home in the 90s when Focus on the Family was at it's peak. My mom said I begged her when I was in first grade to fly out and to Colorado and meet Dr. Dobson. haha
Enjoy heaven Dr. Dobson!

I think Pete died in his arms, basically. Dobson said his last words were, "I feel great.". IIRC

Not sure if he's the founder of the same FOTF that's on 88.1 FM local but those two guys on that show (don't know their names) have some major hate on their hearts for Catholics. Not sure, I think they say they're Baptist maybe, but all I know it that much hate and bad mouthing doesn't come from Jesus or any scripture I've ever heard of.
Used to listen to their program frequently when I was trying to find my way back to Christ. Didn't take me long to realize Christ was not there.
You will know them by their fruits.

I didn't know that. Listened to, and watched, a lot of his tapes in the 80's. Also read one of his books in the lead up to our first child. He was very influential in back then.
