I was looking hard as a GMC Sierra Denali for the ARC and 3.0 Duramax, but people keep telling me to look into a Ram.

They say the 4 corner air suspension makes it ride like a luxury car, but I'm hesitant to jump on a twin turbo engine without seeing the long term durability.

I know the OT is the island of misfit toys when it comes to car advice, but I want to see what the consensus on the Ram is since their 2019 redesign. Worth a look, or same old Dodge?

There was a thermostat issue with the new engine but supposedly has been fixed. They are probably the best riding truck with a huge infotainment screen. Longevity would be my only question.

If you can, I’d wait for the 2026/27 models just for the new warranty they announced.

I have driven several of them over the years being in the business. Have driven rams and f-150’s over the last several years as demos. Prefer the ram truck. Good power and lot less telematics issues. Smooth ride. Prefer the screen over the ford.

I bought a used 2018 and can tell you it's not going to last as long as my 2001 F150. Got 21 years out of that 5.4 V8. Motor was still strong, but the transmission crapped out.

The Ram just doesn't feel as solid. Maybe that's all new trucks these days.

I have a couple friends with them and they like them a lot. Low mileage though.

I think it’s just luck of the draw on reliability with the big 3 trucks. All of them have some issue or another over time

If you can I’d wait a couple years once they bring the hemi back and maybe these EPA changes can help the big 3 make more reliable engines over the next few years.

I have no intention of keeping a truck that long. I need about 150-200k miles in 6-8 years and then on to the next.

I have one with over 200k miles on it and love it. It is a V8 though and I wouldn't touch one with the current motor. I will drive it until it falls apart and buy one just like it. The ride is plush and the technology is amazing.

4 corner air suspension

I have a 2021 ram big horn and it was did remarkably well on a cross country road trip. Zero issues at close to 100k miles.. But i avoided the air suspension and opted out of it out of durability concerns and havent looked back.

I would wait as long as you can. New engine this year, and bringing back the V8 next year, so if you can wait a while you can see how they both perform

I was a devout GM buyer till my 2017 Chevy. Garbage transmission and AFM soured that fandom. I know three people with Rams and they all say good things about them, so I'm interested. But not till at least 27, when the V8 is back in them and has a little market time on it.

I have a '22 1500, with a V8.

Why do y'all keep saying "when they get the V8 back"?
At what point did they not have a V8 option, b/c the current generation (2019-2025) does, and so did the one before (2011-2018)?

and to the OP, it is an extremely smooth ride and very quiet inside. It's the first thing i noticed when i drove it, how smooth and quiet it was.

Pretty sure 25' models only come with a V6 3.0.

I was told the Hemi V8 was discontinued after '23 or '24(?).

Ram is far and away the nicest, best riding truck out there, but its resale falls like an anvil. I’d wait for a bit if you can, they are reintroducing the 5.7L Hemi engine, and personally I’d wait for that…
