Thanks any other recommendations for age appropriate things? Was thinking of driving down to the Nola aquarium but read some lame reviews on TD this morning

Yes. They also have sections dedicated for babies or children under 18 months.

LASC museum has a good toddler play/learning area as well. Took my now 7 year old there a couple of weekends ago. Planetarium viewing is now included in entry fees.
Pre covid we would take my son to the Barnes & noble at Perkins row. They had the Thomas the Trane table. He could have stayed there all day. After Covid it’s gone.
Jones creek library has a few toddler friendly things and is free as well.

I'm not in BR, but I second the library recommendation- libraries everywhere have toddler activities throughout the week.
Aquarium may be "lame"- but toddlers are amused by anything and everything, so if it's safe, go for it.
Catching an ice cream cone or small ice cream cup inside a fast food place is a guaranteed way to please a toddler indoors for at least 20 minutes.
Also, walk around a grocery that gives free cookies to children.
Look for smaller, indoor museums- a nice respite from the heat and those too often have activities for little ones.
My daughter checks a facebook page for her area for family friendly, toddler friendly happenings each week. See if you can find one for BR. Newspapers will often have the happenings around town, too.

I thought the mall aquarium was over priced and felt dingy.
Actually took my three youngest to the New Orleans Aquarium and Insectarium (same building) earlier this summer and was pleasantly surprised. It's not the best in the country but it wasn't bad. Certainly worth going if you haven't been or haven't been in a while.

Mall of La has a playground inside that seems to be for kids 1-4 years old. Every time I walk by, seems like the kids are all strangers but are playing together.

Hammond has a kids museum as well. Have been a few times. Not that large but very interactive
