About midway through the season during one of the games the announcer stated that CEH was tops in the SEC in opponents making contact with him behind the LOS. He was still incredibly effective due to his ability to make the first man miss. That OL still won the Joe Moore award due to the offense's talent and explosiveness.

I'm not saying this is the same as the 2019 offense, but Durham has great escapability and the offense has a ton of talent. I think the defense is a lot further along than the 2019 defense was in the beginning. They struggled with Texas and had some tough games early until they got healthy and on track.

Find a way to win vs Clemson (more important for the team psyche than playoffs) which i think they can and this team has a good shot to make a run.

I completely agree. Go back and watch the South Carolina game from last year and see how many times he had to make moves at or before the LOS to avoid free rushers. It’s that skill that makes him good and Jackson ineffective. I still think Jackson is a good RB, but he’s a north South runner that needs a big hole to get through.

Yep, with Burrow’s quick passing plus mobility and escapability, and then CEH’s ability to make tacklers miss, that offense masked a ton of the OL’s issues. I was surprised all along they won the OL award that year.

Can only assume your point is that the 2019 offense was good in spite of a subpar OL, and if so it’s a tired rant trope that needs to die. Several of those linemen have gone on to be very successful in the NFL, and the scheme that year sacrificed blockers for offensive options especially in short yardage, precisely because burrow could get the ball out quick.

I can't even imagine that team if our offensive line was more dominant...

Were you surprised that four of them won starting jobs in their NFL rookie camps? Were you surprised six of them made NFL rosters? Were you surprised that two of them are still among the top NFL players at their position?

That was the greatest line in the history of LSU football by a metric shite ton. And it was hands down the best line in college football that year. If you still have doubts go watch them manhandle Alabama for 60 minutes in Bryant-Denny stadium.

No I'm simply stating a fact that CEH had to make unblocked or free defenders miss a lot. That team operated in the spread and forced defenses to defend the field. Also, as you stated the quick pass and pre-snap reads were crucial. That needs to be the blueprint for this team.

If they can be 60-70% as effective they will be fine.

The beautiful thing many don’t mention is how a great QB like Joe Burrow knows all the strengths and weaknesses of his lineman and how each play may breakdown before it happens.

Saying all that, they were a good to quality Oline in 19’ but Joe made that line look better than they were.

There was a lot of TD complaints about that 2019 OL…LOTS!!!

There were also LOTS of TD complaints about Jayden Daniels. Many wanted Nuss to start over JD5.

The Rant is fun and often on point. But it is not The Gospel by any stretch.

Lets give the 2025 OL a chance to play a game or three before organizing a funeral for them!

I personally believe that we will be pretty damn good at Oline this year.

If you ever looked at the Olines Bama put together during Sabans run you always had a fantastic Center leading the way for the team and everyone was better around him because of it.

Bringing in Moore from VA Tech and moving on from Chester will be the best decision we made in the offseason when it all said and done.

Burrow made a bad offensive line look good. I wouldn't expect the same thing with Nuss. No knock on him, but Burrow was a generational talent. Statistically speaking, it was the greatest college football season from a QB ever. You just can't expect Nuss to be able to make all of those reads and get rid of the ball as quickly as Burrow. If he's half as good as Burrow we'll be fine.

I agree and that is exactly what happened last year… people don’t see it.
LSU never tried to run the ball and that led to being ineffective to run. Daniels was LSUs rushing attack the year before. The defenses in the league eliminated Nuss running, thus could focus on the back and play coverage. They could pass block except when they lost inside push when Dellinger was injured. Then they loss the other guard. Freshman/first time starters were the issue at UF and NOTHING ELSS.

With B.Brown and Chris Hillton on outside. Tray Green, and Sharp at TE. They won't be able to load the box with safetys help.
If so Nuss goes over the top if not we should be able to run the ball.
