I know many people on board were for it but these arguments for cancelling aren’t unreasonable use the money for multiple smaller projects. Maybe I am blinded by JBE grafting from the project but I think right decision was to cancel it even if Landry and Billy N are not to be trusted either

There have been multiple long threads on this that are still going or can be searched.

It was an insanely stupid, typical LA politics BS move. Landry will end up being just as bad of a governor as JBE.

Why start a thread, then go offline? You must work for Landry or the fat frick lt. Guv.
Or you’re in line for one of the “multiple smaller projects”. With which the trouble is, tremendous amounts of money are spent with negligible impact. Other than enriching those who get them. As a state, we’ve fricked around for years with multiple smaller projects. And yet here we are.

Don’t like Landry like Nungesser less but hate JBE more than those two. I admit my judgment on issue is clouded because I think JBE was getting kickbacks from the diversion. Wish we had a conservative businessman as governor but dont see one on deck

Looking at your post history you are just a shill against this project.

Nope and I admit I may be wrong but JBE association just makes me suspect. I know the board hates Landry for justifiable reasons but I feel like people forget how bad JBE was and think Landry is worse which objectively isn’t true JBE did nothing on crime was a leftist on many social issues signed no tort reform cut no business taxes etc. Landry is the GOP version of EWE everything he does is political but JBE pretended to be Mr Honor Code and we know that wasnt true and his policies were terrible for the state. So forgive me if I think maybe he could be wrong on the Mid Barataria Diversion as well It will be interesting to see if a conservative business candidate will challenge Landry in 2 years

The project was suppose to cost how many billions to save approximately 20 square miles of coast line right?

For how long?

I'm honestly asking because when I saw the initial numbers snd the small amount it was "going to save" my immediate gut reaction was this is going to be a bullshite drain on the tax payers that isn't going to work and we'd be much better off investing it into our state directly through either a school choice program or a direct infusion of tax grants for a fortified roofing program to lower interest rates or an investment in more law enforcement to crack down on crime and lower car insurance rates

I'm an idiot though

20 square miles is huge.

None of the Landry parrotheads want to compare and estimate the "smaller project" approach. They dont even have estimates.

We will spend more taxpayer dollars canceling the project than we would have spent building the project. Fact.

You mean because you have zero evidence to support your position you may be wrong? Yeah, I agree.

Is there a single costal restoration expert that agrees with canceling this project? Not that smaller projects won't work, but does any expert agree canceling this project is the right move?

No but I am buying that there are serious underestimated cost overruns in the future and JBE ifs corrupt and I don’t trust him

Spend $3 billion for something that Mother Nature will destroy or ruin? Just light the money on fire.

I too hate JBE

But this project was supported by many smart experts all over the world.

I trust them more than I trust LA politicians

Also, since Landry doesn’t control the money, no promise it can be used for other projects

How could you possibly say that when the initial budget was 1.5 billion and increased to 2.92 billion?

You say they don't have estimates for smaller projects but this one has literally doubled.

Honestly I don't know, I just hate when we give her government billions of dollars for damn near anything and they ruin it, if it should be voted on then I wish a private contractor would do it.

If they accomplish the same goal, why not go with the one that does it the fastest?

The fact that you think this is Louisiana's money to use elsewhere shows how ignorant you are. Louisiana taxpayers are going to be on the hook for tens if not hundreds of millions for the cancellation and the trust can give that money to Alabama or Mississippi instead. As others have pointed out, you are just a shill trying to act impartial.

Follow the money … just wait to see which firms start to “study” these smaller projects. That should answer everyone’s questions; if family members or unusually high campaign contributions are involved that’s all you need to know
