"If you're not a conservative at 30, you have no brain."

Were any of you also apparently heartless at 20? I can honestly say leftist bullshite has never appealed to me at all.

Completely. I think you're a moron if you're ever a liberal.

I always saw Dems as having horrible ideas and Repubs having no ideas. But my belief system fell much closer to what the Repubs said they wanted to do big picture wise and if they ever accomplished anything the repubs wouldn't frick up the country.

But then the Patriot Act and NCLB happened so I guess I was wrong.

I wouldn’t say liberal was my word, ‘drunk’ might be closer to the target, but in the end they’re both selfish and immature

I was the only conservative born in a family of liberals. I had no idea why I disagreed with them on things until I understood they were bleeding heart BS liberals.

I was kind of liberal at 20. Didn't vote though. Not even sure what the current democrat party stands for anymore. They keep changing what liberal means.

I was born in 83, so turned 20 right around Iraq. Was pretty anti war. Anti establishment. Anti drug war. Anti Wall St/bailouts.

However, I think it made me a true libertarian/conservative, unlike most on this board who most likely proudly voted Bush/McCain/Romney, who were certainly not conservatives.

I was more liberal when I was young and not paying close attention to politics. The minute I started paying attention, I became ultra conservative.

I’ve been working and paying taxes since before I was born so I wasn’t a liberal when I was 20

Liberals are people who don’t work for a living

That’s why their party is lawyers and people on food stamps

Most young people are influenced and manipulated very easily. It takes some life experience in the real world to cut through BS and think for yourself. .

Reagan got the first vote I ever cast and I'm batting 1.000 against every single person on the ballot with a (D).

i was a rush baby so i never ever went through my liberal phase.

i guess you could say i'm more liberal now in my 40s as I'm pretty anti-war, anti-death penalty, and while by no means a socialist, am more sympathetic to social safety nets.

that being said, i hate democrats and progressives WAAAAAYYYYYY more now than I did in my 20s.

going through McCarthyism in HS and college I thought we was a zealot. now i know that McCarthy didn't go far enough.

I never voted Liberal but I for sure was right down the middle and probably fell left on enough topics for some to consider me a lefty. But then Obama happened and their undying hatred of straight white males became so strong I have no clue how any white guy can vote left.

83 as well but i didn't get get my more libertarian streak till my 30s.

Going through the crash in 08 and then seeing Obamacare rape my bottom line as a new father from 07-12 solidified that i was never ever going to vote democrat.

But I've moved from being a proud republican to having the attitude that the only reason Republicans aren't the worst is because Democrats exist.

I've been a conservative for most of my life, except for that stretch of a few years when I indulged in major psychedelics and weed.

I was too young to vote for Reagan, but I grew up in that era. Probably explains why Gen X seems to be conservative as a whole.
