Sending kids to school with hand foot mouth disease

Is this common for parents to do? My son just got it from a girl in his class that has it. I kept mine home today because although symptoms are mild it is highly contagious. Usually clears up 7-10 days. Don't really want to keep my child out of school that long.

The poor always send sick kids to school. They can't afford daycare and can't afford to take a day off. It sucks, but nothing new.

If you’re an a-hole, I’m sure people do it for convenience. My kids got it at daycare a few years ago. We kept them out for the full time.

You mean that’s a real thing?

It aint just the poor, just shitty parents.

kid just had it. doctor said they are good to go back once you stop seeing new bumps and fever is gone
7-10 days is overkill.
i caught it with our first kid and that shite sucked. I was knocked out for a few days

Yep
“Poor” people have to get drunk and do drugs all day and don’t want kids cramping their style

Kind of shitty to send your kids to school infectious when there's essentially a 100% chance that it will get spread, especially for younger children.
I think the threshold for hand foot mouth is they need to stay home until the blisters are healed over.

Lawrence County Tennessee would send your arse to court if your kid missed days on account of that. They better have their asses in their seats, there are literally no excuses.

I have two kids in daycare, you almost may as well send em to school as that’s where they got it from anyway. School is a damn germ factory.

If they are poor affording day care has nothing to do with it. That makes no sense. Plus daycare won’t let them drop off with HFM.

If you see symptoms, essentially everyone has already been exposed.
Also, did you know the recent guidance for pink eye, for similar reasons is to send kids back to school with it with no waiting period.

It isn't just the poor people. I know plenty of high earners that are complete selfish pricks when it comes to sending their kids to school/camp/parties while they're sick.

No. My grandson picked it up in daycare and had to stay home unit cleared. I think it was 7 days. Maybe longer bc it took a while. Fever, anything contagious can’t go. Colds? Well they stay having colds and nose runs until immunity built (per pediatrician).

It's not just poor people
I know relatively affluent people who will show up at our house/event/etc. going "oh [younger son] had the stomach bug this morning, so he stayed home. [Older daughter] had it a few days ago" like this is completely normal behavior
They should be sprayed with bleach and thrown out the door

It amazes me and infuriates me that parents do that shite. When my son was in his first preschool, we eventually had to pull him out because he was sick literally almost every week he was there. And when he'd get sick we would keep him out as to not get other kids sick, but as soon as he went back he'd get sick again from kids whose parents just pump them full of Tylenol and send them anyway.
I know that kids get sick in preschool, and that it helps build their immune systems, but that's gonna happen naturally anyway. You don't have to be a dick and send your sick kid to school.

I would hope the parents didn't know their kid had it, but some people suck so I'm not surprised. I kept mine out.

I didn't realize that was even a thing
My daughter's school makes the child stay home until they have a doctor's note that clears them

This makes sense.
Oh, and I totally agree.
