I’m on my first re watch of Thrones and gonna go right into HOTD.

Is it as good as the early seasons of Thrones?

I read all the books but was so pissed with season 8 I put it off watching it.

It’s the television equivalent to blue balls

I found it to be more soap opera.

Not even remotely.

I recorded the second season and just found that I lost interest in starting it so I never got around to it, and ended up just deleting it. So I can’t speak for the second season…but the first season is pretty good though.

First season is on par with Game of Thrones season 5, where they were starting to riff on their own, but that they still had some source material to work with. The second season is basically a season long tease where only a couple things happen, and then nothing happens after.

Solid writing, but the pacing is weird (first season has a ton of time skips while the second season is agonizingly slow). Most of the characters are decent, but lack the charisma of the actors/characters in Game of Thrones (with one notable exception WHO IS THEN COMPLETELY SIDELINED IN SEASON 2 FOR NO REASON!!!!)

It's a solid 7-8/10 show if you like dragons, political intrigue, bad wigs, and soap opera level acting. What is most frustrating is how frequently it gives you glimpses of being an epic 10/10 show, but then ultimately disappoints with more blue-balling bullshite.

Season 1 and 2 were pretty good. For those saying it’s giving blue balls, from my vague knowledge of the source materials I’m pretty sure shite is about to pop off next season (no pun intended).

Solid show but not near the level of writing (and lacking some of the same caliber of actors) as the early GOT seasons

Season 1 was great. Season 2 would have been if HBO hadn't cried poverty and shortened the season by 2 episodes. The show was super popular after S1 and they inexplicably nuked what would have been the concluding episodes of the season.

S3 will begin as 2 should have ended, with the battle of The Gullet. The entire season should be crammed with a lot of action, but we'll see. Most of us envisioned 3 or 4 seasons, but I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to get 5 or more out of it.

House of Dicks you mean? There's a whole lotta male frontal nudity and they really push the limits with a complete cock in mouth blowjob scene. I think they chop off a guys manhood as well. Other than that it's pretty good. But like others have said, season 2 feels like a seven episode trailer for season 3.

It’s pretty damn close.

People in the GoT universe are just looking to complain about anything and everything since the GoT final season.

It’s never meant to be as broad of a story as GoT, so it’s hard to directly compare the two. At times it may feel like they’re dragging it out, but the highs (and there are many) are as good as any in GoT.

I watched HotD at least 3 times all the way through and it gets better with each and every rewatch.

Why? Just watch HotD then rewatch GoT, stopping at s6 or 7

At the end of season one they show a teaser for season two.

You’ll get excited about it. Then you’ll watch season two and realize that the teaser they showed is THE LAST TWO MINUTES of the season.

First season was great. After Paddy was gone from the show it lost some steam.

Second season fell off in my opinion. I haven’t given up on it because I know what’s coming and hope they do it justice.

Season 1 great. Season 2 blows and like someone said, it's literally a 7 episode trailer for season 3

Not good. Spend your time elsewhere would be my advice.

If you're expecting to be as good as GOT then you're out of luck. At best it's ok. It's not something you'll watch and want to discuss with everyone.
