By all accounts, the guards have been getting manhandled and struggling vs the DT’s.Mcckinley and gooden in particular have been making life hell on Thompson and Chester. Thompson I think is a guaranteed starter despite his struggles but I don’t know if you can have Chester out there vs Peter woods and those Clemson DT’s. Woods’s athleticism and power would overwhelm Chester. I know he’s a true freshmen but curne gives you a fighting chance physically with his strength and freakish athleticism. Just like we had to start Will Campbell day 1, I think you need to throw your best athlete at guard in curne out there.

How good has Curne looked when blocking 88?

I think the coaches that know 10000x more than any of use can make a better judgement on who to start and who to sit.

Curne has mainly been at LT so he’s mainly been matched up with guys like Reliford , pyburn and Payton. Imo, that’s a mistake and I think the staff is realizing that. Apparently curne will be working more at guard this weekend

Teams have the film of Chester from last year when he was the worst starting center in SEC. Trust they’re going to line their biggest best strongest guys over him and go at him. We surely have someone that’s better. If not it’s an indictment on either the recruiting evals or the coaching.

Yeah that was my point. There's no reason to believe that a freshman working at tackle is better than a Sr. all Big-10 performer from last yr. until he is. I think Curne sounds like he's a freak and future stud but Josh Thompson was highly decorated and sought after when getting into the portal. I'm glad they are going to move Curne if they think that's potentially where he fits best but I can't want him to start at G against Clemson today. I have no basis to want that, no does anyone yet.

I haven't been to practice so I don't know about that. What i do know is that I would prefer a situation where the coaches are saying "Curne is just too good to keep on the bench, we need to find a spot on the line for him" rather than "Thompson isn't working out, who else can we put out there on the line?"

Thompson will start. This post was more directed at curne starting over a guy like dj chester.

We have 3 weeks until Clemson, they will get it figured out by then. Just let the competition happen

Even Thompson has struggled from insiders reports and he was actually a pretty good player at guard last season

No....I'll take game experience on the road vs a top 10 opponent over a true Freshman. Don't care how good he is, or may be

Why would anyone on this message board know anything about who should start when we aren't at practice??

Center is a much different position than guard, to be sure. But the amount of times I saw Chester knocked on his arse two yards into the backfield on run plays was nauseating.

Tis weird when people haven't seen a down of practice, and make statements like this. Yes he is good. So was Fournette, PP7, etc.

Maybe McKinley and our other DTs are just that good?

I bet the 2011 O-Line struggled in practice against Michael Brockers, Bennie Logan, Ego Ferguson, Lavar Edwards, Sam Montgomery, Barkevious Mingo, Kendrick Adams, and all the other good DL that we had that year. The 2011 O-Line turned out to be plenty good enough for us to win with, and the only thing we couldn’t do that year was beat one of the best Alabama teams ever two times in a row.

Yea everybody on this site has watched and been at every practice.Of coarse he should start at guard, true freshman are always the more mature experienced players on the roster.Hold up your hands if you have seen practice and the coaches and the coaches film. What I see no hands. All we are getting is limited film and coverage.

It's crazy how LSU fans are so easily influenced by what they read on various LSU sites. One person suggested that Carius Curne should start at guard, and now the entire fan base seems to be adopting that idea. Let's allow Brian Kelly and Brad Davis to make the decisions; this topic is becoming quite annoying because no one really knows what Curne is capable of against college competition.

No i don’t. I believe he will be a stud one day but he’s not a Will Campbell that steps on the field as the starter. We want experience inside our starting group because our tackles don’t have much experience. The best thing we can do is cone out and try to run the ball early so the OL gels.

LT: Tyree Adams
LG: DJ Chester
C: Braelin Moore
RG: Josh Thompson
RT: Weston Davis
