The Sibleys said over the years, the deer named “Little Buck” became part of the family. Even though the deer was blind, it was free to leave but never did.

State Wildlife and Fisheries issued the following statement:

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Agents received information about a deer in a pen at Mr. Sibley’s residence. Agents made contact with Mr. Sibley on Dec. 22 and found the partially blind deer in a fenced-in area on his property. Agents issued Mr. Sibley a citation for illegal possession of a wild game quadruped, which carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail. He was also charged with civil restitution for the deer, totaling $1,624. An LDWF biologist was called to the residence, and he seized the captive deer.
