Will Italian Americans ever quit cosplaying Italians?

Only thing Italian about them is their last name, and their mom's spaghetti. Sounds silly, but I've always thought they were cringe how their whole personality is food and mobsters.

What’s funny is that younger “Italian-Americans” don’t even act like the old-school guys lmao. They act like caricatures they’ve seen in movies. It’s hilarious to watch actually. None of them actually have a “Nonna” from Sicily lmao maybe 5 generations ago.

It is funny how some will use their heritage as a excuse for the way they act

I have a few Italian friends.. Do not mention WOP or DAGO... Also I have noticed one thing they all share,, They are all backstabbers.. Doesn't matter how long you have been friends.. 2 years or 47 years... Whoever is not in the room they will backstab.. And whoever is standing next to them is their best friend at the moment..

Has this been on your mind for a while now?
What a weird thing to ponder about....

Quite possibly the funniest thing I have read on here.

Growing up in South Philly I had a lot of Italian friends and they had a sense of pride about their Italian heritage, honestly it was kind of cool to witness. Plenty of them even spoke fluent Italian. Even down here, it never felt like cosplaying.
There have been some occasions where I've met some people that put on a show about it and it doesn't feel or sound right so I sorta get what you mean.

Have you ever heard of the soap opera about Italian-American merchants?
It's called
As the Dagos Buy

Come on now, that new Canes commercial isn’t that bad.

My Mick arse grew up with a lot of I-talians. I call every one of those sorry sacks of sh*t a Dago. Some of the closest friends I have.

I've met a few authentic Italians. There are a lot in Boston area. They are very passionate and do talk with their hands. And their food is out of this world.
I think the Jersey Shore Italians are equivalent to the Ghetto hood blacks. The real Italians don't really claim them.
