How many of you started a new job at 50+ years old?

Same industry, just a different place….

My industry is fricked up and constantly changing compensation plans so I 100% expect to switch employers once, twice, maybe three times in my 50's. I'm 40 now. Unfortunately it's just the way it goes and it's maddening.

Started my current job at 57

Started new job at 54. I hope this is it, because I don’t want to try to find something else at this age.

I'm in my 30's and can't imagine working at my current company much longer but I'm also terrified of what else is out there for me.
Guess that's life.

Almost 55.
Been at current job 22 years.
Expecting a layoff coming.
Not looking forward to trying to find a new job.

I was just short of 50. It was, technically a "new job", but functionally it was a promotion.

Starting a new business, in a new field, at 56. This will be my 3rd career change. About 15 years is all I can last before wanting something different.
Can't imagine working the same industry for an entire career but maybe that makes more sense and it's just me.

I started a job with a new company a week before my 52nd birthday.
It turned out to be the best job of my career.

I’m 52 and starting a new job today. My nerves are shot. I was at my last job for 20 years, but there were things happening there that were unacceptable. Ownership changed 5 years ago and things have deteriorated to a point where I can no longer work there. Anyway, I never thought I would be doing this again. Hope this is it.

I was 60 when I started the job I retired from.

Will this be the designated Boomer Bashing thread of the day?

I plan on retiring at 50 or in about a year as expecting layoffs due to a buy out at current company.
May get a job in the fishing/hunting department at Bass Pro/Academy or at a golf course part time. I’m close to retiring financially and can’t imagine just going to another corporate cog again and continuing the executive flex if I didn’t have to take a step back to get in the door. Also, too burnt out in the industry and old to go to a smaller company and do the whole wearing multiple hats again with shitty leadership.

I'm 58.
Two years ago I left the company I'd been with for 16 years. I really loved working there for most of my career. But we merged with a French company and the culture and leadership changed. I was more and more unhappy with the decisions of leadership and saw my career stalling.
So I started job hunting and was surprised at how marketable I was.
I ended up taking a position with a good company with a 20% salary increase, a commute that's half as long, more flexible hours, a new role that has potential to grow, and overall a fresh start.
The main take away for me was that you can no longer be completely dedicated to a company. Loyalty is a thing of the past. They will frick you the minute they have to. So always be looking to improve your lot in life, internally or externally.

I started a new job at 50 totally unlike the one I had for the past 25. Then 5 years I started career number 3, again nothing close to the other 2.
Worked out very well.

Currently 50, looking to change jobs soon. Current company has gone to shite the last few years and now is more or less led by our HR department.
Hoping the next job I can roll into retirement or semi-retirement in the next 5-7 years.

Retired early, been the busiest retired guy people know. I’m still asked to do consulting work, I enjoy.
The last couple weeks, I’ve done work in Ga, La, Al and Texas.

The main reason I am still at my job is that I feel i'm too old to start over somewhere. My last turnover was when I was 34, and I didn't like it then, I'm sure I wouldn't like it now.
