Dems have been doing this going back to the early 2000s.

quote:

2003: Texas Democrats in both the House and Senate left the state to block a Republican redistricting plan. House members went to Oklahoma, and senators traveled to New Mexico. They eventually returned, and the redistricting bill passed.

Or how about have the vote without them !! I don’t understand this shite , same thing in the Senate. GOP has the majority yet the Democrats are holding things up ?! How ? Ask yourself one simple question if the Democrats had Republicans holding things up would that stop them? I think we all know the answer . Grow some nuts and press on anyway .

They’ll do the same in DC when the cheating don’t work and the vote goes against them. M

They have to have a quorum to conduct a vote.

Edit: Thank you Mr. Owl.

This entire concept was never intended to include people intentionally avoiding a vote and it needs to be put to the fricking stop now. Vote without them and tell them to go frick themselves

People who quit the legislature shouldn't be counted as part of the math. And fleeing the state to avoid votes should be considered quitting. In fact they shouldn't be allowed to have their seats when they return.

You have no fricking idea why a quorum was originally intended and why the practices followed

Regardless He made an absolute type statement that Republicans did not specifically specify Texas
but Republicans should just vote anyway
they can't because the rule of quorum is in enforcement

That's the principle that we have been operating in this country for over 200 years in fact about to be 250 years next year it is also a practice in democracy Western democracies for hundreds of years, of which the American republic is built upon So I'm sorry that you aren't educated enough to understand this but it's still a law

this is middle school, level civics u tards

Oregon Dems got tired of the Republicans doing this to stall communist legislation so they made it a disqualification for office if you failed to appear for a vote. Republicans should be talking about how the commie Dems handled this in Oregon.

quote:

In response to these recurring walkouts, Oregon voters in 2022 approved Measure 113, a constitutional amendment to bar lawmakers from seeking re-election if they have more than 10 unexcused absences in a single annual legislative session.

Like the yellow belly cowards they are. If you're a working male and voting democrat, you need to look hard in the mirror about who you are

The Oregon law that you cite is an interesting case study, and yet see how it plays out but that does not change what's happening in Texas and that law that you cite and I know you understand this it doesn't change the rule of quorum

Besides this is ultimately going to get done through the legal challenges, the Texas primaries, at least for Congress, will probably be delayed till May

Totally agree. Oregon could not abolish the quorum requirement so they basically made it a disqualification for office if you were absent too many days. It’s interesting that Dems howled in Oregon when Republicans did this but those same nut jobs now think delaying a quorum is a great and noble cause.

How many Dems are needed for a quorum?

Look on social media, they won't be hard to find. Send TX Rangers to arrest them and drag arse to Austin
