The dude is 16 years old and just barely finished second at the US championships behind a former world champion. He broke the under 18 world record and is the second fastest under 20 year old ever. That is some rare talent.

Looked to me like if he had stayed closer to the front, he had the kick at the end to win it.

Another 10 meters and he might have won the whole thing.

Yep. Or if he had turned it on just a bit sooner. Amazing run.

Kid is from Justin a little north of Fort Worth. He’s truly a generational talent.

He was so far back coming into the last turn. Pretty incredible finishing burst.

Just ridiculous. The US high school 800 record is now faster than the college record. He ran his 2nd lap in 43.88- which would have won the 400.

Kid could compete with the cars at TMS. His HS is right next to it.

The 800m and 400m hurdles do not get enough respect. Those two events are brutal competitions.

Probably wasn't his race strategy, though. And as young as he is, probably best to just stick to the strategy and not change on the fly when the gun went off. Hell of a run.
