I’ve got some advice-take the shingle shot if you’re 60 or older.

I took the original 1 shot for shingles some years ago, never got the Shingrix which is 2 shots.Kept thinking about it but never did.

Deeply regretting it now, broke out with shingles Thursday and Friday.
Take my word for it,you do NOT want shingles. It started below my lower lip, goes down my chin and up L side of my face to the L top of my head.
Best way to describe the pain is very similar to a Yellowjacket sting, like maybe 10 of them.
Went to Dr.,he prescribed Valtrex anti-viral which I think is working,I’ve had minimal blistering.
Thing I’m concerned about is I’ve read the pain can last weeks or months, even a few years after it’s all healed.

Shingles hurts when you breathe.

And I’m in my mid-30s. Can’t imagine how bad it hurts for you old farts.

I had shingles when I was 22. Worst pain of my life. I got my shots last year as an older adult.

I had a mild to moderate episode of it in the weeks/months after Katrina on my shins and watched it slowly migrate towards my knees.

Xanax helped. But, not really.

Many on this board won't take any vaccine since they know better.

But for the rest of us, good advice

Covid shot wasn’t a vaccine, but you knew that.

I had them in my 20’s , I’ve heard that’s rare but I remember the pain.

Mine were on my right rib cage and followed a nerve around. Looked like poison ivy or something but hurt like hell.

I had an uncle that got them in his eye, it messed him up pretty bad.

I got the 2 shot vaccine done at Walmart

I had it in my mid 30's. It sucked. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. That was 25 yrs ago and still have a couple numb spots where the blisters were.

True words spoken. Four years ago I went into the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee and my wife tells me I have a pink blotch on my temple area. After looking at it in the mirror and my wife telling me multiple times I need to go get it checked, I get dressed and run over to the urgent care place near the house. Doc comes in takes a look and asks if I ever had shingles. I replied no and he said well you do now.
He prescribed Valtrax and stopped it in its tracks. I caught it in the very early stages.
Got the shots and no adverse reactions after.
Get the shot folks. Shingles is nothing to ignore. It can mess you up.

Shingles is some weird stuff, you can have chickenpox as a child and it will go dormant in your body for 30-40 years then flare up.

Zoster is no joke. Besides the pain, it can sometimes cause permanent nerve injury. It will be interesting what happens with the generations who never had chickenpox because of vaccines.

I missed a day of work after I got the second dose. But I don’t want to get shingles.

I had shingles in my 40s. I did not have the excruciating pain; what I did have was constant pulsating low to mid-level pain that was so irritating it drove me bananas. Can't recall what opioid they gave me (probably Oxy), but I took that and slept for most of two days or so. Then it was done.

I would rather not go through that again.

Pneumonia vaccine triggered my chronic pancreatitis and I spent a week hospitalized. Miserable experience being gut sick and in serious pain from the pancreatitis along with essentially a couple of days of general malaise as immune system adjusted to the vaccine.

Since then my Dr.’s and I have decided I need to skip getting vaccinated altogether. With all my various complications it’s just too risky for me to vaccinate.
