My husband and I don’t share our iPhone locations unless there is a specific need, but I’ve been surprised to find out how many couples constantly share location with their spouses. We share bank accounts and know the PW to each other’s phones. There are no trust issues. I just find the constant tracking inherently creepy. He does, too, so I guess that means I married the right man. How many of y’all are like me and just find some inherent weirdness to always sharing location?

It's not because of trust issues. It's just handy to know where everyone's at.

Plus it's mainly to keep track of the kids

We only share if needed and the reason is because yes.

I use it with my husband and children. Doesn’t mean any of us are watching the FindMy app constantly.

I’m not saying there are trust issues if you do or if you don’t. I just naturally find it weird. The first time I got in my car and my phone predicted where I was going, I felt like Ron Swanson when he tossed his computer in the dumpster.

For example, either I or my wife will turn the ringer off on our phones for a PM work meeting and forget to turn them back on. It's handy to be able to check and see if they're on the way home. Most of the time it's the kid who checks. "Dad, let me have your phone so I can track mom...."

We both have life 360 but it's not like we try to spy on each other all the time. Never know when you might need to use it though.

We have the share location always on. Helps if she or I am late and we can just check real quick and by like oh they are on the way or must be stuck at work. Stops us from worrying and/or having to call each other to find out if something’s wrong

What is the logical upside from constantly tracking your spouse?

It obvious just a failsafe so they dont cheat, or if they do you have warning signs. Same reason you track your kids or employees.

What logic is used that this is somehow beneficial otherwise?

There is a difference between being ABLE to check someone's location and actually CHECKING it. Bit say something happened to your significant other. I'm not sure I'd want them be reliant in having to manually enable tracking.

But we live in a "big city"....

We share but l can’t remember the last time I looked. It’s not that interesting. I also don’t care if anyone knows where I’m at

Some of yall overthink this. I could GAF if my wife or mother are checking in on my location here and there. I turn it off if I need to

I’d think the safety benefit of being able to find your spouse or their lost phone would outweigh any imaginary weirdness. In all the ways a married couple are intimate, the knowledge of the other’s location is a bit too intimate?

In this case the phone is fine and transmitting, but no one is able to answer it? The killer/kidnapper/whatever has kept the phone around?

I don’t know. We don’t do it. Other folks have listed reasons they do it. When my husband and I were dating in the early 2000s, this guy came into this audio sound shop we were at and asked to have a tracker installed on his truck because “I just want to know what she does all day.” Everyone in the shop thought that was a strange request, but now it’s the norm. It’s just weird to me. It must just be how some people are wired, not a right or wrong necessarily.
