One simple metric besides score will determine if LSU makes it to the NC game.

Nuss has over 200 yards rushing for the season.

I think LSU moving from dead last to middle of the SEC in rushing would be a better metric.
That and being well on the plus side of turnovers for the season.

I can't agree with that being most important.
How about:
* LSU lead league in rushing
or
* LSU leads league with fewest sacks allowed
or
* LSU leads league in defensive forced turnovers
Nuss rushing way down on the list

Nuss has less than 8 picks
I feel like if he takes what the defense gives him that means he making less risky throws and getting yards with his feet so getting some decent rushing numbers helps with less picks.

Assuming when you say leads the league, you mean leads the SEC. LSU did that last season

LSU was only ahead of Moo State in this category. This is one area where they really need to improve.

Down vote for you because you used the word "metric" in a football thread.

Nuss
4,000+ passing
40+ TDs
8- INTs
250+ Rushing
= National Championship and Heisman
If the defense is stout and we rush the ball better.

Correct.
This season we lost both starting tackles and both starting guards. And our most likely offensive attack is going to be via the air.
Turnover margin is basically the most determinative stat in football. It’s just very hard to predict.

Defensive 3rd down will be key. For 5 years we can’t stop anyone.

We were -.5 last season.
Our scoring defense needs to improve, but it was better last season than the season before. Since 2018.
2018 - #39 - 23.6 ppg
2019 - #29 - 22.4 ppg
2020 - #95 - 34.9 ppg
2021 - #75 - 28.3 ppg
2022 - #31 - 22.9 ppg
2023 - #86 - 29.5 ppg
2024 - #53 - 24.6 ppg
If we look at turnover margin it looks like this
2018 - #10 - +0.8 turnover margin
2019 - #14 - +0.8 turnover margin
2020 - #13 - +0.9 turnover margin
2021 - #96 - -0.4 turnover margin
2022 - #70 - -0.1 turnover margin
2023 - #36 - +0.3 turnover margin
2024 - #90 - -0.3 turnover margin

With the limited number of games, the college football season has probably the smallest sample size and narrowest margin for error among all college sports.
Intangibles will also be at play, as will injuries.

Turnover differential. That stats more consistently than anything else besides the scoreboard every single year.

I can't agree with that being most important.
It's just a conversation piece and not the one-all be-all metric.

And, you are complaining about me paraphrasing it to "most important"?
Don't be a retard.

LSU has a top 25 defense….If we can’t stop other teams everything else is irrelevant.

Forced turnovers are also the least replicable stat
