What is the best treatment to put in gas to clean a carburetor?

I'm trying to revive a '02 Honda Rancher that's been sitting for about 4-5 yrs. Before it got parked the carb was cleaned, and it will crank easily with the choke and idles great. When you try to accelerate the sputtering starts and it will go with the help of the choke being pulled, but it does a lot of popping almost like a backfire.
With all that said, is there any kind of fuel treatment that will clear this up or do I need to manually clean the carb? TIA

The general consensus of the OB is Seafoam. I have used it directly in the carb of a chainsaw that wouldn't stay running. Poured a little in and it smoked like hell for about 5 seconds but ran great after that.

You can also pull the air filter out, rev it up and put the palm of your hand over the air intake to cause a vacuum, then pull it off before the bike dies. This will sometimes suck the trash out of it.

I've tried seafoam a few times and it's been hit or miss. I like breaking the carb open and putting it in chem dip for a few hours.

I soak the carb in Yamaha carb dip. Same stuff and you can get it at any Yamaha dealer.

Haven’t done anything but put new gas and new battery.

I've used mechanic in a bottle for my weed trimmer and my son's small atv and its worked every time

The pilot jet is clogged. Not likely for seafoam or such to help.

My Honda generator started surging. I tried replacing the gas, cleaning the carb, replacing a jet, etc. and nothing worked.
Poured in Seafoam in an amount per the instructions. Nothing. Poured a little more. Nothing. Said F it and poured about 15 times what it recommended. The white smoke soon started, followed by a smooth running generator. Sold me on it.

I have a couple of Stihl 2 strokes that see very sporadic use, like 3-4 times a years. Normally that's a nightmare for 2 strokes, but I started using Seafoam in the gas mix, I think just an ounce/gallon or whatever the label says. They can sit untouched for 6 months and they crank on the second pull.

pour sea foam directly into the carb while its revved up

What these guys have said! Seafoam works amazing. As well as spraying it or carb cleaner into carb while running.
Several times I've had an outboard, mower, atv that gets a little finicky- spray some carb cleaner down the throats, if easily accessible- pull plug and spray it into main jet, and dump whole can of seafoam into the tank. Cleans right up.

You can get a complete kit carb with all the hoses for less than 50 bucks

You can try seafoam but 9/10 the carb needs to be gone thru again.

OMC Engine Tuner is where it's at. That's your best bet. Yamaha ring free also works well.
Seafoam MIGHT work. Certainly worth a try, it's easy enough. Mix a gallon of gas with a whole can of seafoam and give it a go. It doesn't work as well as the above products though.
Keep in mind that these are usually placebo pills for carburetor removal denial syndrome. Odds are you'll end up needing to take the carb off.

If you cant get it you'll have to disassemble the carb and put it in an ultrasonic cleaner.

1. Blaster Small Engine Tune Up
2. Stabil Fast Fix
3. Seafoam
4. Pull carb and disassemble
