Revisiting the Bryce Underwood situation

LINK
I noticed something playing College Football 26 so I checked a few depth chart websites and they matched what I saw on the game. (Link to one of them provided) Bryce Underwood is currently QB1 for Michigan, at least according to these varied sources. Granted, none of those are official, but they are what they are.
There is no world where he starts for LSU this year, unless Nuss goes down.
I know Portnoy threw Fort Knox at Underwood, but his choice to switch may have been more than just the money.

Nah, it was about money

Michigan offered an 8 figure deal to a high school senior who had been committed elsewhere for a year and didn't even visit them but sure, the move was all about playing time.

Larry Ellison with Oracle is why Bryce is at Michigan. Portnoy was just a loud voice. Bryce stayed and even reaffirmed his committed after Portnoy went on his initial crusade. Oracle money got him to decommit.
Taking Bryce's NIL tranche that was allocated and using it in the portal was a blessing in disguise. Would have been awesome to have him, but we are winning the championship this year because we had money to go get a shite ton of impact players.

Billionaires shape the world as they seem fit.

quote:Those are just guesses. LSU's starting WRs are Aaron Anderson, Barion Brown, and Nic Anderson. Hilton is definitely starting in real life.

quote:truth, but, so what? The vast majority of QBs don't care about starting year one. Bryce even mentioned about being the guy after Nuss.

quote:No, that didn't get him. Portnoy was talking 2-3 mill for a transfer QB which would be like 1% of his money. The 12 mill Bryce got/will get is like 3-4% of Ports money.

In comparison the Oracle guy wipes an ant's arse with the 12 mill he gave Bryce.

Portnoy is a major douche and Underwood is at Michigan purely for money. If he has watched Michigan’s offense the last few years, nothing about it screams attractive for a QB. 12 million dollars makes you not give a damn what the offense looks like.

His decommitment might go down as the biggest silver lining in program history if we win a national championship this year.

It was definitely money. They more than doubled our annual offer. Only a fool turns that away at 17 when the choices are between 2 fortune 500 companies and one is in your hometown. The shame wasn't in taking the money. It was the way he handled it that he should be ashamed of. But he's got 12 million ways to get over that.

I do wonder what kind of players we were able to buy in the portal and maybe this recruiting cycle (2026) when Bryce decommitted because that freed up A LOT of NIL for us for sure

Your post provided no reason why you are “beginning to think” it was more than about money.
What was it?
Reading between the lines, are you the only person in the world that understood him coming in and starting over Nuss. I am certain Underwood didn’t think that nor anyone else.

As a 18 year kid being offered that much money,Brian Kelly could have been my daddy I would take the money

There are about 12 million reasons why you are wrong

Decision solely off the money basket...

Correction, Larry Ellison threw the money. Portnoy’s offer fell short. They needed Ellison to push them over the top
