I have a friend going to N.O. with his family to see the WWII museum. He is looking of safe place to stay and I have no clue. Only been to N.O. a couple times.

There are plenty of them. If the museum is the focus you should stay at the Higgins.
It’s not Mogadishu.

Plenty of good hotels nearby, staying in the CBD is probably his best bet unless they want to deal with driving/Ubers.
The Renaissance New Orleans Arts Warehouse District Hotel is great and less than 10 minutes from the museum.
A little further towards Canal are tons of hotels from every brand imaginable. I stayed at the Le Meridien for the Texas/Washington game a few years ago and it was enjoyable but any big brand hotel in the area will be fine.

Stay in Metairie, Uber to/from the museum
100% the safest way to go

New Orleans is 99% safe as long as you're back at the hotel by 8:00 PM.
The thugs get drunk and stoned at home then come out around 9 PM.
I'd pick a hotel in the Central Business District with a nice rooftop pool with a bar.

don’t stay on canal…there are at least a dozen very nice hotels in the warehouse district that are walking distance to the museum. Pull up a map and pick one

Why leave your house at all, wrap yourself in bubble wrap and get everything delivered to your door.

Stayed at The Old No.77 back in May. Seemed fine to us and not too far to walk to the WW2 museum.

If he wants to isolate himself tell him to stay at the Higgins Hotel at the museum.
If he is inspired by the brave soldiers he sees in the museum he may want to venture out.
After he visits the exhibit of the Rangers climbing the cliff of Point du Hoc he may then want to brace himself to walk down Camp Street toward the French Quarter.

The Hotel Saint Vincent is a remarkable spot. Tell them to read up on it and the amenities it offers.

Thank ya'll for the suggestions. I passed them on to him.
Having grown up in Zachary I really should've spent more time in N.O.
I should take my family down and visit some plantations as well.

Higgins is the closest. There is an Embassy Suites not far away that I like because of the free happy hour and breakfast.

How is Windsor Court in terms of being accessible to a lot of stuff to do in New Orleans?
We're taking the kids in October. We looked into Higgins since the WWII Museum is really the only thing on the list to do so far, but it was booked. We'll also probably take them to the Zoo and Aquarium.

Windsor Court is about the best location you'll get for a hotel.

This.
It’s in the perfect location. The valet set up is so much better than places like the Roosevelt and the Ritz.
