Machine washing performance wear hats?

We’ve had a glove thread and polo thread themed around sweating our dicks off in the last week or so.
What about hats? How do y’all keep them from getting rancid after 4 rounds?
I like the white performance wear hats in the summer, but they start turning yellow and crusty within a month of buying them during the summer.
Assume the dishwasher is the answer here? Or some kind of sink soaking? Do y’all use dish detergent or laundry detergent?

I have a large tub sink in my laundry room so I soak mine in oxyclean detergent and hot water and then rinse.. It get the job done... If it's really bad I use Dawn and a scrub brush ..

put them in the washing machine with normal detergent and let them air dry. performance hats are far easier to get looking new than older cotton hats ever were

Dishwasher is the best on this. Doesn’t ever submerge them and heat dries them some.

If I'm at home or in the hotel showering after a round, I'll take my hat or visor in there with me and use soap and a washcloth to wash the hat too. When finished, I leave it hanging in the shower to drip dry.

There's a spray called "Hat Saver". When I buy new hats, i basically drown it in that.

I heard the dishwasher works well too.

Spray and wash and the top rack of the dishwasher. On most dishwashers there is a top rack only setting. Take them out a place in front of a box fan. Done

Depending on sweat factor, after 1-5 rounds, get home go to sink and run warm water on it, hit it with some Dawn liquid soap while rubbing it with a soft sponge/brush, then let air dry.

I’ve been using the dawn platinum plus power wash spray and it’s worked great. I use hot water to soak the hat then spray it with the dawn and let it sit for an hour or so then rinse it off.

I asked ChatGPT this same question and here is what it told me.

I sweat a lot in general and clean all my hats this way. Performance material hats are even easier because the bill is usually made of a material that doesn't get destroyed if it gets too wet. Warm water and laundry detergent in a bowl. I have a small brush that was made for cleaning shoes I believe. I soak the hat in the water trying not to get the bill too wet if it isn't made for it. Then lightly brush it. I can typically get hats looking pretty new without much effort at all. About 5 minutes worth of work and I don't have to worry about things getting smashed/creased in the washing machine or run an entire dishwasher cycle.
