1998 is an easy answer. Started 2-0 in Omaha.

2013 team was a wagon

2013 is the answer for me.
That team ran through everybody until Omaha.
The cws was a very hard product to watch during the peak dead bat/ball era.
It just played so much differently than the regular season.

I'd put 1992 in the discussion too. Won the SEC regular season and tournament, bats just went cold for a few games in the regional.

The dead bat era is pretty much dead to me so I wasn’t even considering 2013

1) 1998 - frick that random cold front in July (??). Team was built to win with the brand of baseball being played in this era. I was in Rosenblatt for both losses against USC. Up until 1/9/12, it was the worst loss I ever experienced as a fan in-person. Saints/Rams NFCCG trumped both later on.

2) 2013 - This team was stacked. Bracket set up perfectly (missed Rodon who was throwing G1 for NC State in other matchup in our bracket). All we had to do was get past a UCLA team we more than overmatched offensively and, at very least, was our equal on the mound. I’d argue Nola was better than Plutko or anyone else they had. Their brand of baseball was bullshite. And that Bregman error will haunt many people’s dreams forever.

3) 2017 - Not taking anything away from this team b/c beating that Oregon State team back to back games was one hell of an accomplishment by itself, but we don’t even get the opportunity to play in champ series without an ump with a strike zone 2 feet off plate. As mentioned, we win it all with with a healthy Eric Walker.

4) 2015 - This lineup raked. Team really had it all except for a #3. Some years you don’t even need a true #3 to win it all. Poche’s throws to 1B in G1 vs TCU were the nail in the coffin. Lange’s masterful performance in G2 wasn’t enough to overcome a #pawl gut-feeling special throwing Person for his 2nd start all year in G3. I would have taken our 1-2 of Poche-Lange vs anyone.

These teams were very good in hindsight, but overall we’ve been lucky to win many times with our best vs other good and great teams. Baseball is such a brutally random sport, especially at college level, the very best teams are not usually hoisting the trophy at end of year.
