With UNO enrollment in decline, officials plan to cut courses and adjunct professors

"As of mid-July, enrollment was down to about 4,100 students, some 2,000 fewer than last fall, officials said in an email to faculty explaining the latest cuts." - NOLA.com
In the 1980s (back when NOLA and Louisiana were really thriving), UNO had upward to almost 20K students. So to see where it is today is very concerning. I know people talk shite about LSU but UNO is 1 thousand times in worse shape. I wouldn't even send my roaches to UNO
This news spells more disaster for the once great Big Apple of the South. UNO used to be a very important part of the economy in the city but it's no longer and NOLA will surely feel it. I know NOLA residents don't want to hear this but if you are wise you'll prepare for an exit plan like now. The writing is on the wall that NOLA is about to experience unprecedent dark times ... worse than Katrina. The metro population is among the fastest declining in the nation, NOLA liberals continue to double down on their stupid ideologies, cost of living is at historic highs, economic development has gotten WEAKER, the public schools are still bad, the police force is still severely understaffed, crime is still bad, NOLA has the nation's worst housing market, the appeal of the area keep reaching new lows .... I just don't see it turning around anytime soon. So it'll be wise to come up with an exit plan to greener pastures if you're under 60 for sure. If you over 60 (or even 55) I say just ride it out.
My prediction is also the Pelicans will leave soon and the Saints will move afterwards to San Antonio or Austin

State needs to do the right thing and close the school.
It’s served it’s purpose and it’s no longer needed.

if i think of all of the people i know in the new orleans area who are over 40 years old or so, quite a few took a class at UNO at some point. under 40, almost none.

If I cared about NO, I would say make SLU a juco and transfer programs to UNO
But since I don't care, I won't say that

I agree with this. UNO has lost its appeal. And Louisiana kids would much rather go to LSU, ULL, Southern, or Southeastern over staying in the city to attend UNO nowadays. Living in NOLA doesn't have the same appeal it did before Katrina and UNO has a boring reputation now which keeps getting worse. I watch some of their games on ESPN sometimes, they always look super empty and dead

I have no idea what you're talking about. This is my first and only TD profile.

The behind-the-scenes true story of how the Alamodome got built is rather interesting
involves a poker game

Remember when Jindal was a racist for wanting to close some campuses and consolidate schools?

Delagdo has 19000 students. Xavier and
Tulane are thriving Loyola is very stable Holy cross on WB is doing well Once TOPS was established a lot more NOLA kids went to LSU becauae afford to. Admission standards and Katrina helped to crush UNO. And also the appeal of college nationally is just not what it used to be for many reasons just go got a 2 yr school like Delgado and get a good job NOLA has 2 about to be 3 med schools multiple nursing schools Ochsner and Chikdrena are expanding Tulane investing downtown a new port on the way airport expanding etc . Saints and Pelicans aren’t going anywhere SLU has sucksd a lot of kids away from UNO as Northshore has expanded UNO will do better under LSU system will become a satellite school

If this is true, UNO is definitely doomed. He's such a grifter and he's broke as a joke. He sleeps with rich old desperate white women for $$$ ... and this is not heresay ... it's documented ... he shouted her out on his instagram for buying him a car.. See link below

1) Delgado has a 15% graduation rate. Delgado is not much of an asset to the local economy especially as UNO was in its prime.
2) Most Tulane, Xavier, Loyola, and med school graduates LEAVE the NOLA area after graduation whereas most of UNO graduates STAYED. NOLA needs UNO to be thriving to help increase and sustain white collar workers in the city which attract more DIVERSE economic development.
3) I like the idea of UNO expanding to Northshore but the brand has been compromised so much I'm not sure if that's a viable idea anymore. UNO doesn't have a decent reputation

At least half the colleges in the country should close. Many, many more bankruptcies and closing are coming whether they like it or not.
