Greune Hall in Texas

What are some must see things around Greune Hall? Of course we will go there and enjoy some music and drinks. Any recommendations on food or other attractions close to it as we will only have a couple days there?

I have always enjoyed the Gristmill restaurant right beside it! What time of year are you going that could change the recs for activities.

For food, try Gristmill for Tex-Mex with river views or Mozie’s nearby.

Tubing down the Comal River. Also, live music in Gruene Hall is so cool, enjoy.

The Grismill 20 years ago was great, and I want to go to any place with a Wedding Sausage plate. I'll just leave it at a lack of sanitary conditions with servers and your food. We go to Gruene River Grill now.
Its going to be hot as balls in Gruene in August. The Dance hall is not AC'd, so be prepared.

Agree on this take. Grist Mill is a nightmare but if you like waiting for hours for amazing views with sub par food it’s your place.

There are plenty of nice hiking trails in the area. None that I’ve seen are too strenuous, but they offer some cool scenery along rivers and around some hills.

Gruene River Grill is better than Gristmill.

Just got back from the area.
We had gruene river grill, grist mill, cantina del rio, the gruene door.
The Villa is a cool spot to hang out and listen to live music with beer and drinks. They have 2 food trucks there also.
Float the Guadalupe at the horseshoe, went to Natural Bridge Caverns, snake farm, drive in movie, putt putt.
There’s plenty to do and most are walking distance if you’re in town.

Devil's Backbone Tavern is about a 20 minute drive and a cool Texas roadhouse with live music. Dale Watson plays there, Hayes Carll, Guy Forsyth....Shinyribs. It's easy to get confused and go to the bar next door which is more of a biker bar. Also near there is Rough House Brewing which is on a farm the family has owned for generations. They have good food and beer and are very family friendly.

Appreciate all the replies. I think we will spend one day floating the river and one day bouncing around eating and drinking in some of the spots mentioned. We’re looking for a good steak and Mexican food and so I think that’s covered. Should be a great time

Was there in May…don’t remember any standout places to eat but the live music and cold Lone Star beer was worth it !

Agree with this. We went back in April and went to both. Gristmill stays so damn busy they're just mailing in the food and turning over tables.

There is now a small mini golf place at Gruene. Plenty of small shops to look around at.
If gristmill is packed go to Freiheit for burgers, drinks, and live music. It is on the other side of NB, which is about 15 minute drive from gruene.
New braunfels downtown is also pretty cool. Some monuments and murals and shops. Also some pretty cool bars. Pour house / moonshine and ale. Go to the former first and the latter afterwards, they are walking distance.
You can swim on the river in new braunfels or outside of town if it’s summer or hot enough. You can’t drink on the river inside the town except for at 1 spot that you pay to get in. You can drink at spots outside of town that are private and much cheaper. Worth floating for sure, one of those rivers or drive 30 minutes to San Marcos.
Landa park is a nice park inside NB, you can swim too, can’t drink though I don’t think.
Schlitterbahn sucks now supposedly, so don’t even bother. It breaks my heart to say this.
