Sounds like it happened around 6:48 this morning. Anybody hear anything else about it?

Authorities say the pilot of the helicopter died when the crop dusting helicopter hit a powerline and went down and crashed into a sugarcane field.

Dang. I would think visibility is not ideal at 6:48 so why they hell would he be out there?

What are you talking about. Sun comes up at 6:15. Plenty of visibility at that time

I assume that this is the helicopter that always flies over my house to spray sugar cane. If it was the same pilot he had to have known the area well. Probably just fricked up

Looks like it’s back of Laurel valley. They have a power line that runs parallel to the bayou. He clipped that and went down.

Not sure if serious but one would think a helicopter would have air conditioning.

The sun coming up just above the horizon at 6:15 does not mean you'd have good/great visibility 20 minutes later.

This. Certain pest/herbicides cannot be applied when the temperature is above 90 degrees, which can cause inadvertent drift.

Okay, but the liquid product he is spraying evaporates more at higher temps. It's absolutely better to apply just after dusk or before dawn for efficiency sake.
