Brian Kelly career head coaching record is 292-107. At LSU he is 29-11. This is almost perfect on pace with his career average.
This dude can coach the hell out of his teams and I thought in state talent pool would help him get to the next level. But he's 17-7 in SEC play which is way worse. Unless the playoff expands then I dont see how we get past our own conference. @Ole Miss, @Bama and @OU are rough games. Don't even have to remind you about brian Kelly history in late season bed-shiteing. Or early season bed-shiteing. I digress but in any case the big 10 only would agree to playoff expansion if the SEC plays 9 conference games. This would be kryptonite for BK.
His contract is like Will Campbell - too fat to move. Hes not going anywhere. But is he the right man for the job.

He makes the playoffs and he gets another year.

I think he gets 2 even if we miss postseason here. Hes on our books till 2031 but Like I said too much $$ sunk in him now. But if 2028 comes and there’s still no natty appearance, there are gonna be tough questions to ask

Scale of Livvy Dunne to Mo Isom…I would say Brooks Nader

Kelly is what he is. As the OP pointed out, he’s on pace to match his career averages for wins and losses.
I hope I’m wrong but I just don’t see the guy getting it done if he’s capable of steering the team to the playoffs.

When you change a coach you have to give him 3 years to win big so what is the point in changing an established coach unless he really screws up

He's going nowhere.

His seat is room temp until the last several years of his contract. If he wins 1 championship, it would take an O style collapse to oust him.

I think he's managed to keep more top tier in state talent than past coaches have.

And a good day to you, Glenn Guilbeau

I don’t want to use the term “placeholder” but that may be what CBK is- a good coach who, with the infrastructure and brand of LSU, might be able to finally win a natty and reach great status but at the very least won’t let the wheels fall off and keep the program strong for the next guy. Albeit a lot of this was a lot easier before NIL but then again, maybe an old dog can learn new tricks and find a near perfect blend of old and new.
Regardless of which way it goes I’m along for the ride and ready to roll.

Correct and he's not as flaky as O is.

If anyone thinks BK will be fired this year, I have ocean front property in Tennessee for sale

If Nuss stays healthy there's no way BK should not get in the playoffs. He has a loaded deck of cards.

quote:Agreed. I don’t think Kelly is going anywhere anytime soon, for better or worse. But say what you want about BK’s ability to get over the hump and actually win something big, but I can just about guarantee we will not have the inexcusable and utterly embarrassing collapse allowed by Oregon under his watch.

If BK shite the bed this year and miss the playoffs with this loaded roster, he will be fired, and Nick Saban will take his place.
