St. George Crime: Man Beats Jody For Banging His GF; Kills Pet Goat

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man is accused of shooting and killing a pet goat and trying to extort money from a person he said was having an affair with his girlfriend and others.

Morgan Bailey, 44, was charged with cruelty to animals, extortion, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment, offender armed with dangerous weapon.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in the City of St. George around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, July 21, to investigate a disturbance call. Before they got to the scene, deputies were told that dispatch received word from someone that their brother was in danger.

Two people were located at the scene, including Bailey. The 44-year-old told EBRSO that he spoke with the other man who was there and told him he knew about his affairs, including with his girlfriend. Bailey stated that he told the man he would tell his wife and family everything if he did not tell them before 2 p.m.

The 44-year-old said that the man had “been lying to his family for years,” and “he was tired of covering for the victim,” according to the affidavit.

Deputies then spoke with the other man, who said Bailey told him he would not leave until he was paid the $10,000 he was owed. The man said that Bailey wanted the money for keeping his affairs a secret from his family.

He said that Bailey got a gun and beat him in the head with it after pointing it at him. EBRSO was able to listen to a voicemail where the man could be heard yelling at Bailey to stop the beating, according to the affidavit.

He said Bailey shot his pet goat with a separate gun, and deputies saw the dead animal in the backyard. EBRSO was able to see a video of Bailey carrying the gun, which the man said was used to kill the goat, according to EBRSO.

Bailey was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Monday, July 21.
