For Coke to make the switch.to sugarcane. Any cane farmers or experts want to chime in? This is the first time I’ve heard this. But of course it’s fricking ABC making the claim.

Corn lobby owns abc

Sugar industry could ramp up if needed

A lot of cane fields have switched to soy and other stuff and could switch back if market is there

I'd imagine... at this exact moment, that would be true.

However... if they phase it in as an option, rather than an outright immediate replacement, I would think they'd be fine.

Didn’t someone on here mention that Pepsi already has cane and corn?

Cokes comments on the matter is about upcoming offerings- they've not said they are switching. I'd bet dollars to can sugared donuts, that cane coke will be an offering soon without having to hunt for Messican Coke.

Of all places to run this propaganda as if we don’t have any clue to the industry and their ability to scale up if the demand is there..

LOL. You can't grow sugarcane where you grow corn. It probably needs very South Florida to do reasonably well. This probably won't be a big deal, but its likely going to be heavily imported.

Amazing how simple everything is to some people. Namely the simple minded.

The sugar cane lobby doesn't have any room to talk about subsidies.

Corn is in EVERYTHING.

I'm more than happy for louisiana sugar cane to succeed and bring more money to our state..

But corn is way more diverse.

Looks like FL LA HI are the only real places its grown. As someone who knows nothing about Louisiana sugar, does it command a premium compared to the typical sugar?

Miss the fields on Maui and Kauai, that industry has really collapsed in Hawaii.

How about we use sugar cane for ours, and the rest of the world can use the high fructose corn syrup.
