Klubnik vs. Nuss

Is Clemson’s QB hype or really that big of a threat. They talk like he is the greatest ever.

Nuss is getting the same amount of hype, what’s your point?

Much more mobile will have numerous designed runs . Certainly a threat when play breaks down. Can hurt you throwing.
Nuss much better throwing all routes and supposedly looking to run a little this year.
As with most games the QB who makes the big plays and not the mistakes will be the winner.
I see us having a slight advantage here.

Who is they? Some of y'all are so dramatic.
Stat lines for Klubnick and Nuss last year:
Klubnik: 4,102 total yards, 63% completion, 43 total TD, 6 INT
Nuss: 4,014 total yards, 64% completion, 32 total TD, 12 INT
One has his entire offensive line and top 3 receivers returning. The other has several new receivers and an almost entirely new offensive line.

Their stats are very close from last season. Klub had more TDs and half as many picks.
Also we are crowing because Nuss is a second yr starter… Klub is a third yr starter with playoff experience.
So to me the are a wash and each must produce in the game but supporting cast will be important.

12 interceptions against an ACC schedule is not very good. The Clemson guy is a mobile good QB no doubt a big challenge for the LSU defense. LSU has not stopped a mobile QB with a good team around him in a very long time. The Overtime Bama game. Cannot really say we stopped anyone even that day
LSU receivers are significantly upgraded. Defenses have to respect them deep. Nuss did not have that last year.
Cautiously optimistic

Well Klubnik only threw 6 interceptions last year. Nuss threw 12.

He had 6 ints. Nuss had 12

Klubnik had 3 TDs and 3 Int against the sec teams he played last year (Georgia, SC, Texas). He is a good player but a good defense will give him trouble, like most QBs.

Who talks like that. He's got the physical tools and had a very good year last year. I think the sports media60/40 on Klubnik/Nuss being the best returning starter. Virtually everyone talks about it being him or Nuss and usually slightly favors one or the other.
Since much of the sports media is driven by snippets of info plus the few games they watch, it makes sense that many of them will be deciding Klubnik because his team made the playoffs. I know that sounds simplistic, and maybe we should expect more from our sports media, but this is the world we live in today.

There’s no point in discussing the UGA game in terms of evaluating Clemson’s offense for 2025. The two freshman who ended up becoming their”star” WRs barely played any snaps and Brown - who was their All American FROSH WR in 2023 - didn’t play either. Clemson was very limited in what they could do to stretch the field in game 1 with those guys not playing.
You saw a different passing offense by end of the season as especially Texas game. I may be miss remembering, but pretty sure Cade threw 3 passing TDs against a defense that gave up 2 passing TDs in the SeC all season long.
Clemson’s OL was very dinged up at the end of the season. I’m pretty sure they had multiple starters out at the end of the season (maybe 2) v South Carolina and Mafah and was less than 50% and ended up shutting it down after South Carolina.
Barring August camp injuries. LSU will face a healthy Clemson offense with the only glaring weakness being at RB - that’s the lone position with no experience and very limited talent on the depth chart.

He’s very good. What people are refusing to look at however is that his 2 worst games last year were against SEC teams (UGA and SC).

I saw that Klubnik had 3600 yards with one extra game over Nuss.
Is 4100 his total yards???

Just using an SEC to SEC opponent comparison I came up with this:
Easiest is common SEC opponent S Carolina:
Nuss: 24/40 285yds 2 TD/1 INT -24 rush (on road)
Klubnik: 24/36 280yds 0 TDs/1 INT 62 rush 2 TDs (at home)
Looking at comparable SEC defensive teams:
Klubnik vs UGA (27th in ypg allowed at 313) 18/29 142 yds 0 TDs/1 INT -17 rush (neutral site)
Nuss vs OU (17th in ypg at 301) 22/31 277 3 TDs/0 INT -7 rush (home)
Klubnik vs Texas (3rd in ypg at 265) 26/43 336 3 TDs/1 INT 5 yds rush (away)
Nuss vs Ole Miss (8th in ypg at 285) 22/51 337 3 TDs/2 INTs 16 yds rush (home)
The comparisons obviously aren't exact, but interesting.
