It’s been a month and I still wake up pondering how Wehriwa(sp?) went to third

Pressure is incredible adversary

He probably assumed that since he had to go to his right that making a good feed to 2nd would have been difficult and he probably didn't want to throw it into right field.
He was definitely scared and feeling the pressure hence why he took the easiest throw.

I'm sure he wakes up wondering why he went to third as well

Arky had that deer in the headlights look on their faces in the 9th

Correct.
He wasn’t the only one on that team that choked. The LF choked. The first baseman.
He’ll, go listen to the ore game interview with DVH from game 1. He sounded like he was in over his head.
They wanted it bad. But they didn’t have the makeup to get it.

Did he ever actually address it?

Every Arky team looks this way in crunch time. It’s the MO of DVH.
He and his teams crumble under pressure.

What a 9th inning.
1. 1st baseman went after a ball that wasn't his.
2. Frey walked
3. SS threw to 3rd
4. LF misread ball and slipped
5. They pitched to Jones
6. 2nd baseman jumped a tad early

I think the runner crossing his face drew his attention.
The pressure had him in overdrive and he thought things were happening faster than they were.. He popped up and took the lead runner, rather than the double play…. Probably assumed he was late on the double play.

I don’t think so.
He took a bunch of unwarranted flack for missing the postgame, but he arrived late and wasn’t allowed on.
I don’t revel in the situation other than as a fan of the victors. Pressure sucks when it bites you.

I I wonder if the fact that he was moving with his back mostly to the runner from first to second if he thought the runner was further along to second or that the coverage might not be there?

The runner made that play happen. Ran 3/4 speed to be visually right in front of the SS. His slide didn’t even make it to 3rd base. Was ‘heads up’ base-running.

Pretty amazing how pressure got them all.
But then after all of that, to do this….. Jesus how dumb

I never believed that BS. The purpose of the postgame is to tell the story of the game. What he had to say was paramount to the story. Plus, he’s an All-American and Golden Spikes winner. They are not going to lock him out of the postgame.

It still puzzles me. I was always taught to always know how many outs there are, and where you are going with the ball if it is hit to you. He clearly had time for a double play to end the game. That said, the baseball Gods must be punishing The Hogs for something they did in a past life.

Regardless, the third baseman looked to have had plenty of time to throw across to first and get Milam out. Milam wasn't exactly blazing down to first.
