Delta Airlines (SkyWest) Pilot explains to passengers his abrupt maneuver.

From what I can gather the civilian airport ATC was visual and they said another aircraft was nearby.
It was a B-2 from the military base. They had turned off their transponders after a fly-over at a state fair.

Why would the B-52 not have made some maneuvers to not make it such a close call? It sounds like the B-52 was behind the airline, going faster, and over took them?

Pilot said B-52, not B-2. I think most B-52's are stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. They may have been flying near Shreveport. They used to do air shows when I was a kid where you could tour them. They were massive. It blows my mind how something that heavy can stayed floating in the air. It must be an absolute gas guzzler. Like 0.03 miles per gallon.
