Started out years ago a potential giant in late night television and then lost his infested woke virus mind. Good riddance, dumb arse.

quote:

The unwatchably awful Stephen Colbert interview that proves why he was doomed: MAUREEN CALLAHAN delivers the real story... and unmasks America's most loathsome late-night host

LINK

quote:

One: 'We need more humor and less virtue signaling.' Another: 'To make the whole show every day political? That's why they dropped him… S**t gets old no matter what side you sit on.' And my favorite, which speaks to millions of Americans: 'He chose to use his platform as his own personal sermon. After I've worked 12 hours, then cooked dinner and got my kids ready [for] bed, I don't want to be lectured to or demeaned if my politics differ. It's a special kind of arrogance to think that you, as a comedian, can stop doing your job and instead use your show as a pulpit.'

quote:

Think about it: Carson's show ran through the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy, the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, Watergate, Roe v. Wade, the Cold War, the AIDS epidemic, and the fall of the Berlin Wall — to name just a few political and historical earthquakes. And viewers never, ever knew Carson's politics. 'That's not what I'm there for,' Carson said. 'Why do they think that just because you have a Tonight Show that you must deal in serious issues? It's a danger — it's a real danger. Once you start that, you start to get that self-important feeling that what you say has great import, and you know, strangely enough, you could use that show as a forum, you could sway people. And I don't think you should as an entertainer.'

What a disgusting, clueless, repugnant POS.

It is because the people who run the programing and host and guest all live in a bubble. They have no idea what the average American is dealing w/ or finds entertaining. This is what the group in the bubble believe and think is entertaining and what Americans want to and if the American people dont want it, it's because they are racist or bigots or hate science.

Colbert has douche smugness to him, that people even in that bubble dont like he thinks he is smart because he has glasses.

You were #1 in debate, weren't you? Had to be. That is THE most compelling argument I've ever read. Kuddo's for your utter brilliance!

Do you think Colbert is some genuine smarty pants?
Ok let's say he's smart, doesn't make him right.
I also never did debate, but I think I would be #1 at it

The fact that the loudest wails about his cancelation are coming from politicians and pundits, and none of them mention anything about how entertaining or funny the show is, is the funny part. It's all about how a devout member of the cause suffered a consequence, thus proving why he was canceled.

It’s amazing to me the people that think this is the result of censorship. If it were the result of censorship he would be replaced. It actually speaks to the bubble a previous poster referenced. They’re so insulated that they just don’t think it’s a popular platform or time slot anymore. It couldn’t be the content. I mean I do think it’s a dying medium, but to not even try is telling.

Great post...

When Elvis was asked about Vietman protests he said: 'I'd rather just keep mu opinion to myself, I'm just an Entertainer." Elvis.

But now you have people like Kapernick and Le Bran James complaing that they just want us to shut up and play ball... Right, your just an Entertainer.

The day that I get in Jamie Lee Curtis tax bracket will be the day that I MIGHT, just might, view her opinion with interest.

I think they do have an idea and these stations are paid leftist propaganda mascarading as fair and balanced while their money men tell them what to do and say. It’s their constant bashing using the adage if you say it enough then it’s true.

But even the money men can only take so many dollar losses so have to make cuts. These network newscasts and shows are drawing less viewers than WNBA. It’s crazy how much they destroyed their decades of loyal viewers.

They played right into Trumps hands when he first called them fake news in 2015. And over the coming 10 years he was proven right. At first they figured people would just laugh it off and here we are 10 years later and an institution that spent over a century building trust was completely and utterly destroyed.

News will never be viewed the same again. Everything is questioned. Nothing is gospel. Every sane person now checks and rechecks any news they hear. People have found online social media sources they can trust to check any MSM news.

All of this happened in just the last 10 years. People don’t realize now how much Trump woke up the nation to many things. This is a good thing that will carry forward long after Trump finishes his 2nd term.

The problem with all of these idiots that decide to go 100% political is that they don't seem to understand they reduce their margin for error. If you decide that you're going to shite on half of your potential audience every night you effectively have reduced your potential Audience by half. But even that half doesn't necessarily tune in to late night TV for politics. A bunch of them are probably still longing for the days of Johnny Carson. Just some good humored fun before bed. So you lose those folks too. And then of course you still have to be funny and not everybody is going to like your jokes. So you'll lose those people too.

As a person spent many years as a performer and still makes a decent amount of side money as a musician I can assure you that the last thing I want to do is reduce my potential audience size. If I got on stage and one of my cohorts decided to shite on liberals I'd punch him in the face! And I hate liberals!

Those late night shows are like SNL. They had their time, but there are too many avenues for entertainment. Evidently it takes 200 people to make that show nightly. You have YouTubers with no writer, a single camera and a green screen that are more entertaining than that show.

The format is stale and even if they found a apolitical host, they celebrities will continue to be an issue. My hunch is that it will be replaced, unironically, with an equally politically slanted news hour type show.

Carson reruns are so much better than anything currently airing on late night tv.

He's a Bud Light version of Olbermann.

Their smug meter hovers around Clooney levels.

They all think they're genuine delicate geniuses who are here to direct us.

IDK how smart he is but he was NEVER funny. That's why I never watched him even before TDS came into play.
