Been gone a long time what's up with Ivanhoe and Carlotta

I left BR a long time ago. But I have fond memories of the Ivanhoe and Carlotta St. area block parties, especially the Halloween party that was always crazy. I just saw on google maps that it looks like they have cleared multiple lots on Ivanhoe. What's up...is it as bad as I think it may be? That area use to be cheap student ghetto full of crazy folks. I get the google maps images may be old. What's there now?

In the early to mid 2010's it was a drug haven

I was there a few years before that...it was bohemian area, but still student and cheap.

The area flooded in 2016, and some of the old buildings were demolished after that.

I’m going to just throw out a wild guess…a whole lot of “undesirables” moved in.

I can see that, a huge canal runs behind it and Chimes. I was hoping it was not some condo thing...

Still plenty crazy people roaming around back in there. Random tents in the overgrown lots. And I don’t notice many students walking through. Mostly creatures of random assortment, It’s still a pretty edgy neighborhood, but less the haircuts and more the knives.
Randomly there are some small footprint gated places that have appreciable upkeep. So same as it always was but just the 2025 version.

I stumbled down those streets black out drunk from Murphys so many times. The chain link fence by the SAE house had a hole in it that even a drunk could walk through. Good times.

I saw Jesus get in a fight Halloween night in 2000 or so.

The Carlotta street Halloween parties in the late 90s will never be reproduced.

It was bad when they were having block parties. It’s always been run down.

We were doing a lot of drugs on Ivanhoe and Carlotta back in ‘84-85

I know 3 people that lived in that banger at different times. Enjoyed my lil hippe enclave right across the street.
