Everyone outside of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State seem to swear it’s a travesty that this game is discontinued.

The overall record is 83-20 in favor of the Sooners. It’s had some cool moments over the past 25 years but generally speaking OU still dominated it. From what I’ve heard/read is that both sides are moving on and looking forward.

The Sooners are focused on the SEC. Cowboys are focused on the new Big12.

There’s plenty of other rivalries that OSU has who nobody seems to realize:
Tx Tech: 51 Meetings tied at 24-24
Colorado: 48 meetings CU leads 27-20
Baylor: 43 meetings OSU leads 23-20
TCU: 34 meetings OSU leads 34-17
Houston: 21 meetings tied 10-10 (1 tie)
WVU: 16 meetings OSU leads 16-10

Here’s a few bonuses that could blossom into great series:
Arizona: 9 meetings OSU leads 5-4
Az State: 6 meetings tied 3-3

All I’m saying here is that we don’t need bedlam. There are plenty of great series that OSU has where it’s more of a level playing field resource wise. Sorry but OU and Texas never belonged in the same league as the other Big12 guys. They were always just too big for that.

Being from Oklahoma tbh the record doesn't matter. Its a great rivalry. Always thought oSu and Arky could be a good rivalry if they played more often. Schools are only 3 hrs apart and share the Tulsa metro.

Eta - the only one you listed that's actually a rival is Texas Tech. One you didn't list thats a pretty good one for oSu is K-State.

It's pretty easy to understand why people would think
[insert state] vs [insert state] state is a good rivalry to keep regardless of historical W/L position

They actually do have a decent history with Arkansas. It should be played at least 2 times a decade. It’s too close to not.

Oklahoma Mizzou Arkansas A&M and Texas should all play one another every season.

That’s the smart model for the new SEC scheduling going forward. Especially Oklahoma and Mizzou. That needs to be a permanent thing no matter what. They have too much history to leave it out.

Arkansas and Texas go way back so that makes sense to keep.

I guess if you need to only do 4 teams per division you drop a&m

meh. A&M would rather focus on other schools then get stuck with those 4

I don’t think OSU folks consider those games a rivalry whatsoever. I have a couple friends who went there and they certainly don’t. There’s maybe a little animosity with Tech but that’s it, listing a school like West Virginia or UH is absolutely laughable.

Aside from the little brother/in state aspect it’s huge to OSU folks because they don’t have another real rival in my opinion

Anytime modern CFB kills a rivalry due to realignment its a bad thing, period.

The game should be played, rivalries like that make college football what it is.

Its been over 100 years since you scored a touchdown against LSU.
I do wish LSU & Tulane still played.

It's lopsided but that doesn't matter at all. It was important for the state of Oklahoma, back when college football was about the schools and the state and the local communities and culture.

That match up dying is symbolic of the death of the true spirit of what college football was supposed to be and arguably was before big business slowly strangled the life out of it over the past few decades.

In a pure business world view of college football, it doesn't have any meaning, which is why it's gone. But college football was never supposed to be run like a business, just about maximum revenue generation for the schools, coaches, and athletes.

You're totally right. All of these schools need to be back in the Big 12 and let the SEC return to 12 again.

It's ridiculous what's going on with scheduling for the SEC. Alabama's closest school is Mississippi State, but they're not playing them or Ole Miss? But don't worry, rivals Missouri and Oklahoma are on the schedule.

Ole miss leads the all time series against miss st 64-44. They should stop playing the egg bowl too.

I just wish we could go back to the days before the Longhorns had to ruin everything with their failed tv network. We had it good before they decided to start the downfall.

Arky and texas sure but we aren't really rivals w/OU or Mizzou and I really don't understand why so many want to force us into playing them every year. Hell, we've been in the same conference as Mizzou since 1996 and still only played them 17 time w/4 of those matchups predating the Big 12

In the SEC our three rivals are Texas, LSU, Arkansas. That's it.
