For those that have seen 'Superman', would Robert Pattinson's Batman work in that world?

this is an old timeline that Gunn created and shared with the world way back when, but we're pretty close to the "Brace and the Bold" Batman movie, and no auditions, casting, script, etc. has been written, yet.

however, we've been lead to believe that The Batman 2 script is officially done with a rumor that there's 2 sets of scripts on the off chance that they finally bring Pattinson into the DCU and out of the "Elseworld" stories.

No not really. Superman was set in a world in which superpowers and giant monsters were no big deal. I didn’t get that sense at all from Batman.

Yes, it would be fine. Think back to the first Ironman film, did you ever imagine seeing him interact with a talking racoon? They can make it work.

Rewatching all the MCU now, just finished GotG2. It all makes sense and Vision gives the explanation perfectly 2/3 into the Infinity Saga, in Civil War:

quote:

Vision: In the 8 years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man, the number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. And during the same period, a number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurable rate.

Steve Rogers: Are you saying it's our fault?

Vision: I'm saying there may be a causality. Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict... breeds catastrophe. Oversight... Oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand.

There's no way the Pattinson Batman could work in the Superman universe.
Superman or the Justice Gang could have wrapped up the final act of Batman in 5-10 minutes. You don't think Gotham being a crime ridden hell hole run by mobsters wouldn't have already gotten the attention of Superman or Green Lantern?
They're going to have to do a less street level Batman, who is more about his cool gadgets than being gritty. The guy is best friends with an alien Eagle Scout and he rolls with an Amazon warrior princess, members of an intergalactic police force and an underwater demigod.

No. There's not enough overused silly comedy to meet this new Gunn universe.

It can definitely work. And they would be smart to make it work just for continuity. I would not want 2 different Batman movies (actors) 2 years apart

The thing though is he only really interacted with Riddler (and Penguin) who are both not superpowered.

If they made the other villains more comic accurate it could probably work.

But I still don’t think they will

Absolutely not. I hope Pattinson quits if they try to force it. The Penguin just received 24 Emmy nominations and people want to throw that universe away so Colin Farrell can get caught by Krypto.

They are capturing a wider audience with a more grounded, adult-oriented universe in addition to Gunn’s.

I think Pattinson, the actor, could do well, but the character would need to be written exactly the way he’s been written in Reeve’s movies. No MCU quips. Nothing silly. Just brooding and angry. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea. But they can’t let him ever be silly. His surliness in the face of the rest of the JL’s humor is what would make it work.

Hopefully not. I want The Batman/The Penguin to be in a separate universe that is much more realistic and not get thrown into a DCU with 20 different crappy movies that are sure to come.

I could see Peacemaker being in the same universe.

Dude yes. Cena is actually fricking hilarious and his sidekick Eagley made me smile every time he’s on screen

There’s a scene similar to the red dragon in old school when he’s cruising in his car with Eagley that is just perfect

Exactly. I love Pattinson’s Batman. No jokes. No bullshite. Just depression, self-loathing, and blunt force trauma. Let him be Superman’s foil. Not an enemy… just someone you hope you never have to call in… but have to. Like that IT guy you can’t stand at work.

I had very little interest in it due to super hero fatigue, but I prefer DC over Marvel so I gave it a shot. It became my weekly can't miss show. I loved it. Certainly doesn't take itself too seriously but had a pretty good story with interesting characters. Most of the comedy was really good but not over the top, outside of the show intro. But the show intro is solid gold, one of the few that I never skipped.

Definitely worth trying. Give it at least a few episodes.

For the life of me I can't even understand why people like the Reeves/Pattinson Batman. It's just him being emo during an overlong movie where nothing happens for extended periods, Riddler is awful both in motivation and portrayal, and Batman's "detective skills" are ridiculous w/how he instantly solves every riddle in ways that would make Arthur Conan Doyle roll his eyes.

I also don't get why so many of you want Batman to always be brooding and mad at the world when in the comics he has many friends and is nowhere near perma depressed. The guy is not some one note whiny "muh parents died so now I fight" mental case. The keep it grounded mantra is carzy too when the guy dresses as a fricking BAT and goes after all kinds of wild arse over the top villains. Some of y'a'll act like his main antagonists all behave like Zsasz.

It could work really well but Gunn isn’t talented enough to do it. Maybe if he’d have help but he won’t do that either.

No. The opening said meta humans have been around for 300+ years.

Let Batman exist in his own universe. There’s more than enough material. We haven’t even had a decent full Bat-family (robin, nightwing) trilogy yet.
