I've been to Tint Pros on Airline and Auto Evolution on O'neil. I was happy with both.

All Pro tint in Zachary has always done a solid job for me. Just got a car done about two weeks ago and am very happy.
Not in Baton Rouge, but close enough.

what's the cost these days? Will they fudge on the legally allowed?

They will put whatever % you want
Doing 4 windows and rear with good ceramic should run $300-400 at a reputable place

They'll give you whatever you ask for. It's not their responsibility that your vehicle may not have legal tint.

Starting 8/1, you can go with 25% in the fronts too.

For the entire SUV it was $250 before tax I think. And they put 20% on the front windows for me with no questions asked. Legal limit being 25% now I believe.

I used TNT once on a recommendation and they told me it would take about an hour so I scheduled an appointment and I planned to wait for it. It took them 3.5 hours. They said it was because of the person in line before me had tint from the 90's on an old restored Chevy truck and old tint takes a long time to remove. They eventually did a good job but I won't use them again just because it took so damn long.
Last guy I used was mobile. He came to my office and did it in the parking lot and was quick and he did a good job. I used him again for my kids vehicle. Extreme Window Tinting on FB. I highly recommend.

Who the frick needs a “go-to” tint shop? Grocery, yeah. Barbershop, of course.
Anything other than that? Probably a sign of terrible life decisions.

I’ve had problems with every job I have brought them. From full ppf front cap to simple window tint.
Getting the warranty work done is also a pain.
I believe the owner tries to do a lot of the installs herself but she has also had a revolving door for installers over the years.
I finally learned my lesson.
