Interested in which popping corks you guys are using. I have been doing some of that down here and have used a few different ones but its not quite as popular here as it is in LA.
Ive used the DOA and a few local ones but it seems the Four Horsemen is pretty popular up there.

Four Horseman for me. There are cheaper options obviously but to me, they aren't quite as good. YMMV.

I like 4 horsemen because of the durability and cast ability . They are pricey but they also last longer and don’t get bent up after a day of fishing.

Same with me. I use four horseman exclusively. Easy to cast and they are durable

Yep. Been on these for a few years now. I like the oval ones, hold up really well.

I always liked these especially if windy, you can cast them 1/2 a mile, the ones with BB's in them.

Thanks. I typically use higher end tackle so I agree with better quality. I will order some to rig for my trips here.
I don’t use the technique every trip but when I have new people, it helps. Started with swim baits yesterday and ended with the float rigs to finish off some shrimp we had left. Worked pretty well
I just need to have some of them pre-rigged for efficiency on the short trips.
Even had a customer catch a bonnethead on one yesterday. LOL.
We have a lot of big snook that suspend around deeper dicks here. I believe a live white bait rigged on the cork rig would get them to commit. They will take the swimbait at times but having guys who can cast around docks is not always the case.

That style looks like you can just add it afterwards.

Sorry I am not paying $8 for a popping cork. The dollar ones that look the same work just as good. If I was buying just one maybe but I keep a lot of corks pre rigged with leaders and hooks in sandwich bags ready to swap out when the line starts getting frayed from catching fish.

Boat Monkey
OP do be aware that there is a difference between a modern popping cork and a cork to float live bait. Generally I use the standard non popping version (H&H usually) and Ill use a popping cork for artificial as you are actively popping to make noise and water disturbance to attract fish attention.

Besides 4 horseman, I’ll use a Cajun Thunder

I like the versa Max because it allows me to make depth changes very quickly. Sometimes 6-12” matters (I know I know).

I bought a couple corks at walmart. I'm a total novice. Didn't realize i needed all the beads too. The cork itself rattles. Would a couple split shot sinkers at the bottom of the cork be enough to try it out? Is it always necessary to have plastic beads rigged at the top and heavy beads at the bottom?

Have you had any issues with the titanium wires?
No issues with the titanium. I have a pretty wide variety of corks compiled and not all titanium. Some wire will bend but I try not to test it.

I use Undertaker. Caught a deal at a fishing show and bought a bunch. Haven’t had to buy any in several years now.

Any will work, I only use the 4H because I get them @ half price. I’m not spending retail $ for idiots to throw them into the rocks or trees where you need a D8 to get them back. I do only use fluorescent urange for visibility, I have trouble seeing pink or green on the water.

Four Horsemen, I tried the Vudu and the swivel broke on the bottom.

I used 4H. In the grand scheme of things 8 bucks for a piece of tackle that could last a couple years is not a bad deal.

Looks like 4H uses Spro swivels. I use them on all my products and have for 15 years with almost NO failures or return. That's over 300,000 swivels. I love their swivels..
