Is it better fishing out of Rudock or Manchac? I know it is not a hot bed for catching but just looking to play around in the area. Fishing bass and panfish.

Ruddock for bass and panfish but the water is usually filthy. I don’t like fishing over there.

find a local that float fishes the Tangipahoa River and float it. We have had non stop action when the water is right (no muddy run off)...

it's different for sure...

We used to fish Bedico Creek back in high school. Used to kill the bream and goggle eye.

welcome to gods country.
the launch at manchac is very nice and easy and plenty of parking. The scenery is really nice for a boat ride, fishing is pretty skinny though. Still, it’s easy and you can’t catch if you don’t go.

Plus you can pull up to middendorfs and get eats and drinks afterwards

Manchac in spring/summer

Ruddock in fall/winter

Place will humble many fisherman because it looks so easy to catch fish anywhere out there. Then you try all types of baits and don't even get a strike.

My experience is more with bass and catfish.

Go scout when the water is low. You'll see the structure your looking to fish and where they hold. Mouth of a slough is your friend also.

Slow presentation and not as heavy a weight as you think unless wind is kicking up and you can't feel it.

Most bass we clean are full of baby crabs. More so than minnows and shrimp by far.

North Pass & middle Bayou good place to try.

Rudock is same concept but different spots are gonna hold fish and others will be dead zones. Time on the water only way your gonna figure that out.

Use this information as you will. I've fished that are since I was a kid. Drug out of bed not wanting to go but my dad wanted another body in the boat for 10 more fish.

If you see a guy named Rocket post about Manchac fishing, take it to the bank.

Right now most of the bass are physically in lake Maurepas. Throw anything minnow like. We’ve used crank baits, rattle traps, rogues, flukes, floating worms, and salt water baits.
There are drains all over the lake. You have to put in the time. I went snorkeling a fair amount and learned more about the bass than anything.

Go under the bridge for the shade. Catfish should be easy. Ask around what’s the best bait at the time

I see Mr. Jack Lancaster posting pictures daily of bass he caught around Manchac.
They are there, you just have to know how to catch them.

Catfish the entire south pass area.

Drop shot rig with some heavy weights all the way up to 3oz depending on current

Catfish eat anything but range from night crawlers, cut up market shrimp, chicken gizzards, etc. You'll see guys make homemade concoctions in buckets and they are catching nice cats.

Depth finder to see the drop offs and where to anchor

Mouth of south pass going in Lake Pontchartrain will hold some fish also. Catfish, croakers, white trout, specks. Gotta watch the boats speeding past you constantly.

I watched a Youtube vid last night on Bumpy Frog Fishing channel - guy was fishing under the bridge with CoolAid/Chicken bait and catching cats. Water was 31' deep. Worth a watch.

They have been catching the fire out of catfish the last few weeks. I stopped counting at 40 boats under the bridge the other day.
