The second Louisiana location for the insanely popular Buc-ees travel center is currently on pause, according to Developing Lafayette.
Triton Construction, the general contractor on the project, said construction has been paused temporarily because of a combination of design delays and poor weather conditions.
“The job is currently at a standstill due to some design delays. The weather has also been terrible. So with those two issues, us (Triton), the general contractor, and owner decided to hold off for now and wait for better weather conditions,” a Triton representative said. “There are no issues between contractor and owner. Everyone is on the same page. We have recently been in discussions to get back out there. I don’t have a date yet but should be happening soon.”
Mandi Mitchell, president and CEO of the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, confirmed weather has impeded progress at the site. The fill dirt on the property needs to settle properly before the next step can begin, and the top layers have washed away and will require re-grading and more fill dirt.

The Lafayette location will be one of the largest Buc-ees with a beach theme, more than 74,000 square feet and about 120 gas pumps. The new travel center is also expected to create 150 jobs with pay starting at $17 per hour.

Not sure how they’ll uphold their cleanliness level in Louisiana.

Do they really need 120 pumps in that area??

Always hard to get a job out of the ground with rain everyday (sometime 2x a day).

It came down to “Beach” or “Deliverance”. They chose beach.

Maybe they are getting out of Louisiana to head there.

Theme should be “baw.”
